Take the industry right now. Girls that started dancing around 2004 when the economy started taking off "think" they know what they are doing because they have 4 years of experience. However, their experience is only during "the good times" and they have never experienced a recession ( and some don't even know what a recession is!)

The clubs are going to be very different in 2008-2009. The same hustle they used when money flowed freely is not going to work as easily. If a dancer is not willing to negotiate a win/win situation then she is going to go home broke.

I have a home study course. If anyone wants to buy it, I don't need it. I'm not dancing any longer. I'd like 100$ for it, it cost like.... 330$ I think. pm me.

^^^I've seen this happen first hand. I started dancing at the end of 2005 and it was very decent then. Took nine months off and had to learn a hard hustle for the first time when I came back. I had to consciously change my attitude for the hard times. Another girl I'd worked with in 2005 came back post-baby and had a shit fit every night because it was no longer easy. They eventually fired her because she owed the club so much money after never making tip-outs or house fee.

^^Well, she actually got fired three times. One for a bad attitude. Came back three days later. Another time for not paying house fees, then begged to come back. And then... I guess they finally fired her for the tracks on her arms after I left. Interesting. Kinda sad too... she actually used to be one of the popular, in demand girls there... and just a normal girl.

I'm so oblivious, I didn't realize DW had left the site.

Anyway, I've posted this already in older threads, but I have the
HSC and I didn't find it useful at all. It was a kind of fun way to psych myself up after my hiatus, but there wasn't all that much sales stuff in it.

    h
e would spend 20 minutes building up to it, and then 3 minutes explaining it. For example:

Ohh, I have a real GOLDMINE of info comming up here, you are just going ot love this, THIS is the key to it all, this is going to increase your sales by 75% you are just going to fall over being so impressed by this blah blah blah....
And, Kaylinn, that cracked me up. That is my number on pet peeve with motivational/sales speakers. They do that crap all the time. They are building it up to better sell you on whatever they're saying and it is transparent and annoying.
I'm confused, but the Chewbacca Truffle Shuffle cleared it up. - Emily

I took the seminar, but it didn't raise my average at all. To be fair, I was already averaging a pretty high number when I took the course...I think I studied hustle hut a lot when I first started dancing, and I began working in an extremely high-hustle club. I kind of absorbed most of my techniques before going to Vegas and getting those tips...which I was skeptical would even work in my sleazy Canadian club.

*But* there were a few good tips I remember. I am a bit more aggressive with the 'hmm-maybe' guys. And that gets some sales I wouldn't otherwise get. Still, sales tips of any kind would have helped my situation. There were just so many pieces of advice that don't apply to the norms of where I work at all. These middle-clubs with no VIPs, no buying out of stage, no big to-dos...no (rarely, rarely) millionaire customers. Things are a bit different than the flashy big city clubs, I suspect.

haha! thank goodness! i thought i was the only one who had some trouble! i took the HSC and it really does make you think about things in a whole new light.. and i did learn a few good things, but i agree with you guys that some of it is not really relevant to a lot of smaller town clubs or situations and i am still trying to figure out how to use most of the info he gives.. it just doesn't seem to work for me for the most part. I keep it on my I pod and review it whenever i can, i thought i just wasn't doing it right or i just didn't understand, but it's good to know other people are having trouble applying it too!
As for sales books, i bought all the "recommended reading" books in the HSC manual and they are really good...if you are selling cars or clothes or whatever, but i found it really hard to apply most of it to our field...
The only one i really like was Brian Tracy's Psychology of Selling.
