Default SE Portland: Safari and The Peep Hole?

I'm looking to get back to work in a hurry so I can catch up on our bills. Can't find much information on Safari... what do y'all know about it?

Also noticed a peep show called The Peep Hole. I'm thinking I might like to try the peep show thing since I've never done it before. Have y'all ever worked here or do you know anything?

I haven't heard of the Peep Hole. There are a lot of lingerie modeling studios here and you know, I haven't worked in one, but the girls that do seem to do well. So you could try them.

I've worked at Safari and I like the club. I want to like it more because it's really close to me and it has a cool lay out. But the nights I worked there were pretty slow. I made around $300 a night so it wasn't horrible but I was expecting more and I was surprised by how little traffic passed through. The girls working were not the best quality either.

But this was last summer and I've heard from a few girls that it has picked up a bit. Hopefully that is the case.

I think you should try Safari.

When are you here? Are you already here? I want to take you out for a drink.

I don't know anything about the Peep Hole, and it has been over two years since I went to Safari. It is a larger club by Portland standards. I'd say go check a few out, and your list should include:

    Safari
    Stars
    Dolphin I and II
    Exotica
    The Viewpoint
    Acropolis
    Sassy's

That's a pretty good mix of private dance and stage focused clubs, depending on what kind of a mood you are in.

I also understand that Safari and Stars offer Dolphin-style couch dances now, which are fully clothed one-way contact dances and therefore sometimes a much easier sell than a naked airdance.

Welcome to town! Are you ready to take a pole class?

Thank you both! I've noticed a handful of clubs in the neighborhood but Safari is the most convenient, so I'm glad to hear it looks like a good place to work. I'm going to spend the weekend unpacking and getting settled, and Monday I'll get dressed up and go out. Are there any good day shifts? I'd LOVE a day shift, I am so not a night person! But we do really need money at the moment until K gets his next job, so I'm prepared to work nights for more money until we get comfortable.

I love-love-love Portland, finally changed my cell phone number from Memphis - I never liked L.A. enough to get a local cell number, LOL - and I love our apartment. When we unpack there will definitely be some sort of party. And yes, I would love to take a pole class... was going to sign up at Summer's studio once we're situated. My pole skills are appalling and I need to get better since this town is so stage-oriented. Unfortunately I can't put up my pole at home... We have vaulted ceilings and there's nowhere to mount it. Le sigh.

Holiday likes her day shifts and I occasionally like them at the D2; they have been quite decent (although by day sometimes we are talking about 2 or 3pm to 9pm; there are such things as 7am shifts in this town). I think at any of the larger clubs they can be pretty good.

I am talking to Summer about doing a stripper's pole class -- also, can't you get those adapters for vaulted ceilings for poles?

Welcome to Portland!!! I just put your number in my cell and will give you a call. Don't be discouraged if it is crappy right now. My club has been obnoxious this week. I mean really, really trying. There have been a lot of girls on shift and guys have been outright rude, which is a new experience for me, I guess that is lucky, that I've worked for as long as I have and can say that. I'm not used to having every single guy in the club saying no, and that has been happening the last few days.

So, anyway, don't be discouraged. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Oh, and day shifts are fine. For as crappy as it was for me the last few days, there were girls talking about how nights were even worse. So don't worry about having to close. I do recommend the shifts that start at least after 3 o'clock though, if you can, it is pretty dead until then...

Here's hoping. I need to lose the weight I gained over the last month or two, but I have new running shoes and a great fitness center, so I'm hoping it'll melt off soon. After all those years in L.A., rude customers are nothing new to me, and at least now they won't be watching all the other dancers giving ultra-high mileage!

I danced at the same club as holiday for over a year (and will probably come back for ~1-2 shifts/week sometime in the next month... dumb Real Life Wages!) and recommend it, especially since it's been renovated lately. Good location and pretty good management.

Safari SUCKS, for the record. OMG. Ghetto, and no money, and ghetto. I'm done there.

Anyone know where I can get hired and start working on a Saturday? I need money but I've been averaging $100 a shift at Safari, which is bullshit considering that I do hustle and well. I'd like to go out this afternoon and actually do some dances!

^ Maybe try Cabaret or one of the Dolphin clubs. If you audition at the Dolphin clubs, make sure that you either have some loose pants or a long dress. It's weird, but when we do couch dances we have to wear clothes and the aforementioned shit; I think it has to almost be hitting your knees. How did Monday's audition go? And yeah, I can see why would not like Safari if you're making $100 per shift. Not cool.

Hey, maybe you could try the new Casa Diablo place in the NW. Didn't they have a grand opening today or something?

try the dolphin!! You'll definitely make more than 100/shift.

edit:: casa diablo's grand opening is next friday the 1st, not today. You can still go and audition Monday-Thursday between 3 and 7 I believe. It's really cool inside, it's got a big stage with tall poles, it's in NW portland too, the only other competing club in the area is nicolai's.

I love Nicolai but couldn't work there after the owners made Rock Star book three girls in a shift and they hired a smarmy booking agent who wouldn't listen to any of my suggestions. Maybe I will try it out again sometime. I love most of the staff. I will say that the area up there is expanding and there is money to be made from the blue collar industrial and railroad workers. I might check out Casa Diablo.

I'll definitely be going to Casa Diablo, if only for the smoke-free thing! I feel like absolute shit from all the smoke at Safari, ugh. I have raspy smoker voice and a sore throat all the time, my eyes hurt, my skin stinks, my hair is getting brittle... I feel like I smoke a carton a day. So a smoke-free club sounds wonderful.

In the meantime, I'll check out the Dolphin. I have a calf-length peasant dress, will that work? And they'll let me start on a Saturday?

Yek -- the first time I worked at DI I started on a day shift on Saturday. I auditioned at like 5 pm and they offered to let me work the whole shift. then I scheduled the rest of the week at the end of my shift. Huzzah.

Good luck! My shoes are still at the repair shop but I need to pick up some shifts soon. I'm not sure if I'm ready to go back to my old club. I'm interested maybe in DII? Possibly Stars?

Awesome. I know I gave you a good review of Safari, but it turns out the price structure was incorrect and all lapdances are $20 with no VIP - I was made aware of this when I did what I thought were $40 dances and the customer refused to pay me that much, so the bouncer and manager confirmed they were $20, and it turned out the other manager had inflated the prices to try and increase his own tipouts. Too many ghetto customers, too many ghetto girls, and someone (perhaps a DJ) stole my case of CD's, which had about 40 CD's in it and many of them I can't re-create. I'm pretty upset with Safari and I'm finished there.

Glad to hear I can still work today. Hopefully the Dolphin won't be as smoky, either.

Bleh, everywhere here is smoky. It's gross. And I hear you on Safari. I was excited when you first thought you liked it, because my experience there was the same as you described today - ghetto and poor, so I thought maybe it had changed, but I guess not. I worked a Saturday night there, for one of their parties no less, and I went home with $250. And I didn't even see any other girls doing dances. Stupid.

I think Dolphin in Milwaukee may be your best bet. And yes, I worked the day I went in, so I don't think you'd have a problem. It's a nice club and it does have $40 dance options in the VIP room.

I can't believe you had your CDs stolen. That really sucks. I'm sorry.

Safari is where I worked a couple of shifts before moving here. I handed the DJ a cd and had him play Joan Jett for me, and afterwards he said, "That was cool! What was that?" I thought he was fuckng with me, but no, he really didn't recognize Joan Jett. pfft.

Hope things work out at a Dolphin for you. Day shifts can be good at them.

^ Well Thursdays are when some of the workers get paid, so that's good. I don't know what "worth it" means to you; I liked it because it was totally laid back, I didn't have to hustle at all, I felt comfortable and didn't have to deal with 10+ girls, and I ended up getting to know most of the guys that come in on a daily basis. I also liked picking my music. However, to be honest I made between $100-200 a shift there on most nights/days. Occasionally some people would get more generous and put $20 bills on stage. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Yek, that really sucks about your CDs.

Gonna have to do the Dolphin tomorrow, I think. I'm sick today and even K (who is a big proponent of me going to work, LOL) told me that I really look like I feel like shit and I should stay home. Good to know it's there though.

I'm really looking forward to Casa Diablo and its smoke-free goodness; I'm thinking Monday I'll audition there and at Mary's and try to get on schedule at both. Bummer that Safari didn't work out since it's so close by, but oh well. And yeah, it's a bummer on the CD's, but K is already hard at work on burning me some more because he's awesome.

i'll see you at the dolphin 1 tomorrow! I love Sundays- no house fee and they're quieter than saturdays.. I usually make more on Sundays than Saturdays because theres less girls and less "party crowd".
