    Default Two Questions

    1) I'm used to eating 1200-1550 cals/day to lose weight at the rate of about 2 lbs/wk. However, I'm starting to find it difficult to maintain that; the rate of weight loss is like 2 lbs every couple weeks. Today I ate about 2000 cals. What is a safe calorie intake where I can still lose weight when I work-out every day? Granted, I don't do intense work-outs everyday, but I did hecka jogging and sprints today (burned 234 cals) followed by a bunch of crunches and some push-ups. Usually I burn about 188 cals and do about 30 mins strength afterwards. This leads me to question 2

    2) If I want to continue to lose fat weight should I cut back on strength training and up my cardio?

    Thanks!

    1. 1lb a week is still good. The intake you're on is safe.

    2. To lose fat you need a mix of both resistance and cardio, though it's fine to up your cardio for extra calorie burning.

I have found a really useful website which explains in simple terms how to lose weight and keep it off through monitoring your calorie intake. It's the simplest and most effective 'diet' I've ever followed!

Strength training helpd you build the muscle that will burn fat, so you need that as well as cardio. If you happen to eat more calories than you need, don't worry to much. Just get back on track and you will burn it off.

Strength training helps because muscle burns way more calories than fat... a pound of muscle burns like 12 x more calories a day than a pound of fat, so if you build a pound of muscle it burns cals for you all day long.

Also, it's normal for your weight loss to slow down as you progess. This is because your weight is dropping so your BMR drops (how many calories you burn at rest) and also because when you initially start to loose weight, you're dropping a ton of water weight too....
