    Default phone number service ?

I am looking for an anonymous phone number service/voice mail, which will either forward the voice messages to my computer or to another phone #. I used to have a free service that had a voice mail on a remote computer, but it was cumbersome and I never remembered to check my messages. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I was using Privatephone.com, which is really great but I went to find the link for you and there was a message saying free service was being discontinued. So now I need a new one too.

Evoice... it's like $5 a month and they give you a local number. I think the website is www.evoice.com.

I am also looking for a service for customers. Signed up for Grand Central and they put me on a waiting list.

Try calling a local company that sells business telephone systems. The one I used to work for had a huge block of voice mail boxes that they rented out to people. They can set you up with a local direct line, which would go straight to voice mail (or ring if you want it that way). Then when someone leaves you a message, the voice mail system would call your cell phone and you would enter your password and listen to your messages.

T-Mobile prepaid service allows you to sign up online and you can give a fake name.

Certain people I know have done this. :-) I mean, it could still be traced to you by law enforcement through the credit card, but if we're just talking about avoiding stalking, it seems like a pretty decent solution.

I tried the evoice website and googled them. It looks like they are gone. Anyone know of any cheap internet services with voicemail. Wish private phone was still around.
