    Default Body shop?

Just wondering what everyone thinks of the body shops products. I've been using the vitamin c skin boost which i love, and i like their eyeshadows and liners too. I want to try their hair care products but of course need SW approval

p.s. I searched, rough combination of words to narrow down.

i used the vit c micro dermabrasion scrub, very nice.
On the whole i find them very expensive of late. growing up body shop was very cheap affordable make now its not worth it.
their body moisturisers are always nice, the olive, nut, grapefruit, cocoa butter ones in pots. otherwise rarely buy stuff there.

The Tea Tree Oil line is amazing. I highly recommend trying the cleansers to keep a very nice, even skin tone.

I used to work there, so, yeah, I like it. Not thrilled with a lot of the post-Anita Roddick stuff (the fruity stuff and price hikeesp), but ditto on the tea tree line, the vit-E eye cream (the secret to my lack of eye wrinkle, I swear), shea, nut and cocoa butter body butters. I don't like the hemp smell, but it's very moisturizing as well. I never liked the hair stuff though.

Oh and the cocoa butter scrub smells delish and gets the nubblies off your skin very well.

I used to LOVE Body Shop. Great proiducts(if slightly overpriced) and they were HUGE on animal rights and not testing. Then the sold out to Loreal ..the biggest animal torturer of the cosmetic industry.

I do bath and body works now. They kept their morals intact

I was told that the Body Shop still keeps its anti-animal testing policies, but yeah Lóreal. Post-Anita TBS went downhill a bit.

I thought B&BW items claimed that 'this finshed product is not tested on animals'? Basically that the components might have been tested, but that no bunnies were soaked in Warm Vanilla Sugar. I will check.

I love the body shop initially because I loved what Anita Roddick was doing but now because I just fell in love with the products
I use the moisture foundation everyday and it comes in a little pump bottle and isn't too expensive and the body butter and I also have some eyeshadows, sparkly eyeliner, lipglosses and fragrance. I haven't used the hair stuff but I'm sure if it's anything like the other products it will be great.

Right. They don't spritz the finished lotion in bunnies' eyes, but that could be the product short of just the fragrance. Victoria's Secret has the same policy.

    Thanks for the input ladies.
Wow, I didn't know they'd sold out, that's disappointing. What I'm really looking for is some good hair conditioner. My hair is healthy but curly and kind of brittle, my hairdresser friend thinks that there's too much copper in UK water which makes your hair brittle so now that i've moved maybe it will settle down a bit? Dunno. I used body shop stuff when i was a teenager but stopped because i found it a bit too rich and smelly, it's only recently that i've started using the vitamin c and e stuff which i really like. Oh now i'm confused.

Hey, I have the body shop Amlika leave-in conditioner and it doesn't seem to do too much, honestly. I have highlighted blonde hair, and it seems a bit watery and doesn't seem to make a big difference in my hair.. but I love all of their other products!!

I bought thier Tea Tree Acne products, and they made me break out like mad!!
But I like thier Body Butters(I use them as hand creams)
Although Bath and Body makes a far superiour product for hands, I think it's like Gardners Hand Cream?

A lot of my friends use their body butters. Their stuff seems nice, and they don't test on animals so that's even better.

Argh I just remembered me too! And it made my skin all blotchy. Having said that, I love all the other products that I've used though.

I have worked for both The Body Shop and Bath and Body Works.

As an employee, we were told that the "finished product not tested on animals" means that they do not test the product on animals, but one or more of the ingredients might have been at one time. Even if it was something that used to be tested on animals back in the 50's, they still feel they need to make the "finished product" statement.

And no, they don't soak the bunnies in Warm Vanilla Sugar. Everyone knows that bunnies much prefer Coconut Lime Verbena. I keed, I keed...

Good to know. I worked at TBS and I know they had this book of the papers companies had to sign saying they didn't test, were humane to employees, etc.

Hehe, bunnies in Coconut Lime Verbena sounds like a deeelicious treat. (humor, people, humor!)

    *Bump*

I went into the Body Shop at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport to pick up some things & was informed Anita Roddick passed away last September. RIP.

That said, I wish I could afford a shopping spree there. I think I found some lifelong favorite products- the grapefruit stuff, the lip gloss and the Vitamin C face products.

I would like to state for the record that JUNIPER BREEZE is zomg my favorite.

I've only used their products here and there over the years, cuz I used to take baths when I was a kid with their stuff and I always had, you know, infections from it. I'm sure it's um majorly changed in 15 years, but, you know.

P.S. hemp everything from there is great.

I saw that on my shower gel bottle and was like wtf? So I guess basically they do test on animals? I think I will stick to Lush.

One of my fav. products of all time is the mango body butter. I use it in the summers after coming home from the beach or pool. It's so refreshing and really moisturizing.

I used to LOVE the cocoa butter stick they had. It was huge, and smelled great, but I think they stopped making it.
