Default difference between sent and outbox

Okay. I need some quick help since I just got a new phone and the customer service line is closed on sunday. I just sent an important text message. It shows up in the "sent" box but there is also an "outbox" that is empty. What the heck is the difference between the outbox and the sent folder. That makes no sense. I would like to know that the message was recieved.

Does anyone know what the difference is?? cell phone issues suck.

Messages only stay in the Outbox for as long as it takes to be sent. A message may take only a second or two, or a minute, to be sent. Or it may sit in there until the network connection comes back.

After it's sent, a copy will show up in the "Sent" box.

Unfortunately, just because an item is in the "Sent" box, doesn't mean that the message was received by the remote party.

    Does that help?

    ^ This is correct.

Also, if you look carefully in your "sent messages" folder you may find a small checked box next to each message indicating whether the message was received.

My system is also set up to bounce back to me any messages that are not delivered or received within a certain period of time.

You can also save messages to your outbox to send later. If your half way through writing a text and something else comes up so you dont have the chance to finnish, the messages automaticly save there - which is great!
