    Default Is this fucked up?

I saw my friend from childhood-high school the other night at the bar. We don't really keep in touch that much, but she knows I'm a stripper. She was with this guy she is dating and his friend. Well she texted me today and said "Oh yeah the friend thinks you're hot, he wants to come in and see you at work." What the fuck?? I think its kind of fucked up she told him what I do for a living, since I don't exactly want the whole world knowing. Now I'm nervous as hell that she has been bringing it up to other people....arrghh!! I'm texting with her right now and I want to bring it up.

That is a good response I already dance like 1:45 hours away, and I really like my club, so I don't want one person to ruin it for me to where I have to change clubs.

I've told friends that I don't like anyone knowing my occupation unless I announce it. I say it makes me feel unsafe and I hate to be judged when a friend tells a "friend" who tells another friend and then people "know" me before they even met me. This usually works.
Unfortunately some people thinks it's cool to be friends with a stripper. Ugh, I hate that backwards idea! As if once we become dancers we lose the identity before.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

That would irritate me too. I usually don't mind friends visiting me at work, but then I know they usually won't spend money on me. It's not a social event so that's what I tell them.

What would irritate me in this situation is the comment "my friend thinks you're hot so he wants to visit you at work". So... this guy wants to see you naked without any of the normal social finesse or spending time getting to know you. It seems to me that sometimes people hear you're a stripper and then they think they'll see you dance and immediately have an "in" to your pants because they "know" you in real life.

But that could just be me.

Maybe I missed it but, you never told her NOT to tell, did you??? Some people just don't understand without you saying so, that they aren't supposed to tell. So if you did not say to her "Don't tell people what I do" then I don't think she was wrong.

I think it's common courtesy not to put someone else's business out there like that. Ask her not to mention it again. She probably didn't do it to be malicious. She could be one of those people with no tact or social graces.

You are so right. Anyone who's known me since before I started dancing can tell you, I'm the same person I was before. I've just gotten a lot better at looking girly. And yet people still react to me differently after they find out what I do, whether or not they knew me before.

I also have a sort of secret side to my working life, but have decided to trust no one with the details (no, it isn't stripping or exotic dancing) so that the risk of someone revealing what I do under which names to another person is minimal.
