Depends on the demographics of where you work. There were times in history when fairer skin represented wealth since the poor worked in the sun. At another time in history tanning was associated with being wealthy, the good life, time to vacation and lay around in the sun.
It is another fad thing that comes and goes. At the moment I prefer women without tans. Tans use to be the cool thing, but like any fad, they grow old. Plus of course we now know that sun-tanning is potentially unhealthy, so intellectually it can be a turn off.

I think if you asked the question "do guy's like tan lines?" you might find a fair degree of interest.
A light tan is probably doing you no harm - it generally suits a girl better than dead white skin.

Being tanned makes you look better under the club lights too. Even the skinniest girls look massive under black lights if they're super white.

A nice subtle tan may look healthy, not all guys are into really deep tans.
no. its not sexy to be more tan. its more sexy to be the way you want to be regardless of society and trends. do what you like. do what looks good for you. people who have their standard of sexy set on one skin colour are missing out. There is no one set standard of sexy skin colour.
Guys like variety. Period. End of story.
After preferring large breasts for a while, I began to enjoy small breasts, and then back again. After liking shaved for a while, I began to enjoy pubic hair. Tats then no tats. I can tell you with a club full of tanned women, it's usually the pale girl that catches my eye. But by golly, I love them all.
So long story short, be original because guys, like the dogs we are, like EVERYTHING!
This is a great post! I was wondering the same thing, actually. I'm really pale and was considering going to get a bit of a tan (hopefully somewhere that won't make tan lines!).
Do you think a slight tan makes your skin look a little more toned, or am I seeing things?
I have a lot of guys who loooove my milky pale skin. Occasionally I'll slather on some Loreal Sublime just for a little color, but I don't bother with tanning. I still make top dollar in my club amongst beauties of various shades of tan.
Most guys won't even care or be able to tell under the dark club lights!

I am tanned, but that is because I feel better that way, It does make me look healthier because I have got jet black hair and would look washed out otherwise.

Whatever makes you feel sexy and self confident is what works. I happen to love tan lines and that involves a lady being tanned. but it's not a deal maker or breaker for me by any stretch. Sexy comes from inside. Once a lady starts talking she either has me hooked or she doesn't regardless of her tan status.

i have to say ive NEVER seen that to be true...
the skin tone that looks best on you depends ON you. for instance, if you have dark hair and you were to dye it blonde, you may look better tan because otherwise you look washed out. or the other way around.
there's no across the board answer on whether or not tanner is better. that's like asking if blue eyes are prettier than brown ones, or if guys like blonde strippers better than brunettes.
I've always heard that a tan makes you look more toned. Me, I'm pale - I freckle. My thought on fake tan was that it would a) look like crap or b) look really good and I'd have to start doing it all the time, thus adding god knows how much to my grooming regimen. Some things human beings are just not meant to know.

i've been wondering this same thing. i think it depends on the girl.
i LOVE my skin. i'm pale as shit and i've never once heard a man tell me to tan or that he thought i was pasty, etc... only other girls... and i think it's because it's what everyone does. I have gotten a lot of compliments, though... 'pasty' becomes 'china' or 'alabaster...' and being pale does NOT make you look big... that's ridiculous.

It's not something that can be made into a general rule. I've even had my opinion change with regard to the same person.

If you're blonde, a tan definitely helps fight the washed-out look.
Otherwise, pale is the new tan. Love me some pale skin on brunettes and redheads...hell, I'm practically luminescent myself.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

I think I look better with a tan, but I haven't had one in a few years because I don't think it's worth the risk. I haven't noticed any change in income with or without one, and guys don't seem to notice or care either way. Therefore I really don't see much benefit to tanning anymore.
