Default medibank question...and wisom teeth ?

one of my wisdom teeth has been erupted for years,s o i thought, but in the last few day right at the back of my mouth, its has gone all puffy and hurts like a motherfucker. my mouth only opens to a thumb width now, unless i really force it,but it hurts. the bit thats swollen and puffy hurts right up my jaw and sorta starting to hurt on my back wisdom right above it (unerupted) i dunno what that all means... and i have private medical.

now, medibank suck. ive asked them a million times what i have to do to use their stupid services and they neevr tell me. i dont wanna have to call them again onnly to find out nothing.

can i go to ANY dentist to recieve treatment? ive gone on medibanks website and found a list of dentists we are apparently ment to go to, the list is so pathetic, im only allowed to go to about 15 different dentists on the gold coast, and we took a drive to some of them,a nd they are ghetto looking dentists. i wanna go somewhere decent and clean looking, i mean, im paying a fortune for private health, and would have thought that gave me rights to go to a cleanand decent private hospital of dental place.

confused on what im ment to do.

i got no idea who this priavet health thing works here. back home we could go to any practice and its cool. but here, im hearing two different stories.

Ive no idea, sorry - but what do you mean about "ghetto dentists"? Im sure their standards would still be ok and the practice fine inside. Its not legel to practice with sloppy sterilization techniques and some of my friends have been to the real ghetto dentists (the free one at Palmy) and said theyre pretty good. Made me laugh, sorry - I hope the problems solved soon!

Probably you should just ring your dentist of choice and ask.

well, we went to one in broardbeach,it was closed on a weekday afternoon, and was all 70s decor with crappy half dead [plants in the garden, and in some dodgy rundown 70s house in the suburbs with no parking and no signage. hah bit ghetto.

haha ok, ill call a dentist and see what they say

YAY!!! so i rung my nice modern dentis place, and they arent a medibank 'preferred' dentist, but all dentists still work with all health funds. the list medibank gives us just means they may have special deals with those dentists, like a free clean or whatever.

    yay!

6pm tomorrow, hopefully ill get my tooth yanked or something to make it better

I was going to say: all practitioners take Medibank. And Medibank should cover a lot of it. ($600 for me, but it depends on your plan)

Good luck hun get that sucker out. No sucking or spitting. They will tell you this and hand you instructions that say no sucking threw a straw or spitting BUT not why. You run a great chance of getting dry socket, i got it. Lower wisdom teeth are easier to get it with (clotting issue)

So bite on that gauze hard and clot that hole! Wish they told patients why we should not spit or suck for 24 to 48 hours after.

    private health care is gayballs.

so i pay $200 and something, i dont know how often, cos they wont tell me, it comes uo0t automatically off my cc every now and then. and im ment to be getting hospitals and extras. under extras in the guide thingie, it says there is no limit for general dental.

so last night i had my consultation, it cost$49. medibank payed a whopping $13!!!!

    wtf?

im gonna ring them up and abuse them soon....this wasnt explained to me at all. they only pay a freaking portion of my bills? i dont think its even possible for me to get back what ive spent!!! gonna cut the extras option i think, waste of money.

Read your bank statements, you will find out how much is coming out.

Sounds like a major rip to me. $13.00... jerks.

so i rung them, abused them... and it turns out they pay a PERCENTAGE of dental, and thats why i still ahd to pay heaps. but if i had gone to the ghetto dentist it should have been free, cos they dont pay above the reccommended price set by medibank. no wonder they seemed so ghetto!!

I would say you are probably either paying monthly or quarterly. I agree with Pamela, have a look at your bank statements... don't you do so automatically anyway?

.... and yes any health insurer only pays back a portion not the full amount (unless like you just posted it is with one of their "preferred" people).

plus extras is only worth doing if you see yourself doing it often enough for you to need the cover. Otherwise, just save up the money in a savings fund yourself and just use that money whenever you need it for health related expenses.

i didnt ask for extras when i signed up. the guy just put me on that, and i ddint even know what he was singing me up for since they didnt send any info out until i had rung up 3 times and finally seen what i was even paying for.
im guessing he put me on this one since i ahve contact lenses? i dunno. lol

i do check my bank statements, but my cc statment only comes every 3 months or somethign i think, i dunno. i pay off the full balance every week or so anyways,so tbh, i dont bother checking it throughly since its always on $0.
