    Default Wiping the Pole?

Ok, so I danced for 2 nights so far at 2 different clubs, both topless. The one club, the manager is such a fuckin asshole, that I decided to bag it alltogether. I want to feel comfortable where i'm at, ya kno? Anyways, since i was so nervous, there were quite a few times i forgot to wipe down the pole....

Can you transmit disease that way?? Even when they are wearing a thong?

I dont kno where some of these girls have been...u kno??

    Any thoughts, thanks!

    Hi,

I was kind of wondering that myself. Just read this scary article about MRSA on the labia. Scary stuff.

You should wipe down the pole, although I don't think that the standard windex and dirty white towel does such a great job at killing germs. It's more to get the other girl's juices and slippery stuff (lotion, oily/sweaty hands, whatever) off the pole so you can use it and not slip. If you want to avoid germs, maybe get the manager to replace the windex with bleachwater or rubbing alcohol instead?? If that doesn't work, just bring a big thing of waterless sanitizer for your hands.

Um, I wipe the pole before I use it, so I could care less if you did it or not. Take your health into your own hands, don't rely on drunken strippers of all people to maintain hygiene.

The cool pole tricks require you to wipe the pole or you'll bust your butt! No one can get mad or feel offended by that. I always wipe the pole, but not for just this reason, as far as getting something nasty like a STD or anything else, Ladies we play with king nasty of all nasty, MONEY. Do you have idea where that dollars been? Yeah yuck, do yourself a favor, wash your hands as often as possible and buy a bunch of hand sanitizer.

you need to wipe it down with rubbing alcohol...not windex. if you have to, bring your own small bottle of rubbing alcohol.

in a pinch, if you don't have ra, you can use straight vodka or baby wipes (make sure they aren't the "moisterizing " ones...probably generic ones are best)

staph is not something to mess with. i even spray all of my yoga mats down with alcohol after every class because of this bacteria.

About a week or so working at the SC for the first time, that dawned on me. I'm standing by the bar and this guy appears to be teasing this girl with a bill onstage. He's running it over her crotch (she was in a t-back), putting it in her garter, then snatching it back, only to stick it in his MOUTH and put it between her breasts. It suddenly occured to me that whatever money I've got in my wallet was probably at one point in some stripper's thong, not to mention dropped on the floor and in someone's hands who doesn't like soap and water.

Antibacterial hand sanitizer is my friend.

Standard blue windex is actually just as edible as any bottle of liquor behind the bar. So yes, it is not going to do an impressive job at killing bacteria. I forget what the ratio is, but a combination of water and very little bleach in a spray bottle will actually do a significantly better job and it is less expensive. Rubbing alcohol as suggested above is an equally good recommendation.

It can be difficult to make a recently single man pay for sex when he knows that a quick trip to the local watering hole would secure at least one hard drunken tumble for far less cash. It is even more difficult when he is something of a dead ringer for James Bond as played by Daniel Craig and possesses the sort of awkard charm and confidence that brands a man like him as a lady killer.

rubbing alcohol is the best IMO, especially if you want to do pole tricks.. but i don't want to carry that round with me so i don't wipe the pole... but i should. i freakin HATE it when girls put moisturiser on the pole.

I've started doing a few things and its worked out great:

    1) I carry my own spray bottle with rubbing alcohol. There've been too many times we've run out on stage and the club owner/manager acts like its a huge chore to replace the bottle in a timely fashion.
    2) I wash the pole with my own hand towel that I bring from home. There's no telling when the last time the club's washed thiers.
    3) I use a small piece of fabric on the stage when I do floor work. I just can't stand all the dirt and crud that makes its way onto the stage while I'm rolling around on it. It also seems to help prevent bruisng.

I think not wiping the pole (among other things) is what can help cause staph infections in clubs. Its really imprtant that you take preventative measures.

I was just thinking, if you use the same hand towel to wipe doen the pole each time, then aren't you just wiping the germs back on when you use it the next time? or does the rubbing alcohol (what i use) kill the germs on contact?

If the towel is 'black' then I would be shocked if it didn't!

I think a dancer should supply her own bottle of rubbing alcohol and towel. That way, you know where its been, and the fact that it was washed.

I could have written this post myself.
Sometimes I forget my microfiber cloth, but I don't worry because the club uses a linen service that delivers a pallet of towels wrapped in plastic, and that's where I get them from.
And I don't use a small piece of fabric, I use a relatively large plush blanket. Way better to prevent bruising.

Mine's the 70% that you can buy at any pharmacy. I even had to lock it up at one point because this chick with OCD kept using it over and over again as a wash over her hands.
