    Default Auditioning tomorrow -- questions!

I've got an audition Thursday night, and I just bought some really cute stuff at Hot Topic for it. I got some forearm-length fishnet gloves and a couple corsets and a g-string and some cute bottoms. I also bought these boots, which I now realize are only 4''. http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/sto...=1199863449446

Damn it! Do you guys think I can get away with these or do I need to run out and get something higher? A picture of me wearing them is attached. Sorry for the poor quality; it's my cell phone cam.

Also, I'm thinking of going by the stage name Luxx. Do you guys think that will work on the speaker?

And, do I need to buy false eyelashes, or can I just load up on the mascara and eyeliner?

Your out fit is fine for beginning. It is goth, which doesn't always appeal to everybody, but if you rock it, i am sure that wont matter then.

I think your name is fine, it might end up sounding like Lex or Lexi.

LatinaRose has made some make up tutorials that you can looks up. They have a lot of good stuff in them.

The boots are great. No worries. I agree with the goth look not going over very well. However, if you feel comfortable, confident, and sexy then go ahead and rock it.

You don't need false eyelashes. I've been doing this for over 2 years and have never worn them!! As a rule of thumb, you do need to wear more makeup inside the club than you would for every day running about makeup because it is so dark. I wear thick eyeliner, thick foundation, and lots of blush since the lights wash me out. It looks "normal" under the club lights.

Don't stress too much about makeup for the audition. Just do your best job with it so that you feel pretty because your confidence is most important. Once you get the job, just pay attention to how the other girls do their makeup. If your club has a makeup artist, I'd go ahead and pay to have your makeup done once to learn. But that comes later.... good luck on your audition for now!

Thanks!! I'm going to read up on what to do on stage since I am clueless. I've been to a couple strip clubs and gotten lap dances before, but still, getting up there I'm afraid I will have no idea what to do. Luckily, this particular club advertises hiring newbies and training them for free, so it probably won't be a big deal.

About the goth thing: I'm not goth in "real" life but whenever I dress up like one I tend to attract blue-collar guys, especially rural types. Which is perfect, because that's the audience for this club. But I guess you never know for sure til you try. If it doesnt work, then I'll get something else. But I love how the Hot Topic lingerie fits!! OMG it fits better than Victoria's Secret! And it's way cheaper!!!

I'm a little nervous about not being in great shape. I'm not fat, obviously, but I haven't been working out in the past couple of weeks and I think it matters. I need money really bad right now though so I think I just have to suck in the gut and go for it til I have a chance to hit the gym.

I have a gothy pin-up style look that goes over pretty well. I do not have any tats so my look is not too hard. I wear alot of hot topic things.

I think you would look nice as Autumn...i also picture you as a scarlett.

I love the name Lux! I've almost used it as a stage name a few times.

You don't look like youre in bad shape either, and I see girls wear stuff like that all the time. You'll be fine.

Avoid dancing at 100 mph - dancing way too fast is the classic sign of a newbie.

But don't sweat it too much - a surprising amount of guys will like the idea that they're seeing you dance the first time.

Relax - your personality will probably matter more than your shape. Guys will often buy dances because they feel they've got a 'connection' wth you. The motivation for buying a dance is often the thought that they might get to meet you OTC, rather than the fact that you've got a stunning figure.

(And based on your photo in the first post, your figure's fine).

Without being too specific about names, you'll find an enduring question from guys is "what's your real name?" If you pick a name like Autumn, you're almost inviting the question. And if you pick a name like Brandy or Mercedes, you're inviting some pretty predictable jokes. Funny once, but not for the 396th time.

Silky: That's so funny because I actually considered using Scarlett too!! Honestly I like the name Autumn so much that I am seriously thinking of changing my real name to it! Since I'm in a small town, that means I need a new stripper name ASAP. Maybe Amber? Or Taylor? Or Scarlet?

    Tonight went super well!!!!

No one could believe it was my first time because I felt pretty comfortable on stage. I can't dance so I just did a lot of slow movements and posing and teasing and eye contact. Private dances were more awkward for me. This place says you can refuse dances and don't have to grind or anything, so that was good. But I was kind of unsure of what to do. I'm workin on it.

The management was *really* nice -- they said I don't have to tip out my first week! And the girls were super helpful.

I had a really good experience overall. It was a slow night but I still sold 4 dances and made $85 for 4 hours. A girl there told me she made $1000 on a great night last week. Tomorrow night is supposed to be pretty crazy so hopefully I'll do a lot better.

The boots were a hit with the customers and the dancers alike, and fortunately there are no rules about height, so I was fine there. I wore a corset over my bra so my body looked a lot better with that whole get-up, and having done some crunches earlier, and just being under the black lights in general. I felt hot, so I'm glad I gave it a shot this week!

I just have to go buy a bunch of different outfits now because they require you to change for each two-song set you do on stage.

DOnt know if this was mentioned already but, did you get your G string at hot topic? You NEED a regulation bottom, any other is illegal (in most places that are topless).

Thanks Buffie! It's technically an all-nude club.

Tonight went *a lot* better! I made $215 for about 5 hours of work. I was booked with dances pretty much the whole time. Unfortunately I didn't realize that I should ASK for tips after private dances, and as a result I didn't make ANY. So the $15 was from going on stage once and the $200 was my half of the dances. At this place, the club takes half of every dance. BUMMER, but oh well, I'll know better for next time!

Wow, that's insane. After you get your feet wet and get more comfortable dancing, maybe you can go somewhere that doesn't take half of your money. That's as bad as getting pimped.

Really? What would be a more reasonable take for the house?

I would definitely consider going elsewhere now that I know what to do, but at the same time it could be a trade-off. The next nearest clubs are an hour away, and from what I hear they expect pretty hard contact, the management is shady and there are drugs around. One place I considered in particular is known for fining people for BS infractions. The other place requires you to actually be on the books.

including tip outs and housefee's, parting with 10%-20% of my earnings is reasonable IMO... Taking half is fucking you over.

I worked in 2 clubs that require you to be an employee... it's not a bad thing if the club is reputable and does it right. All my paychecks and tax info was given to me under the club's alias... since retiring, my years of entertaining look like years of serving/cocktailing at a German themed resturuant.

WOW, I guess I'm totally getting screwed!! Thank you all for letting me know. Well, they've definitely been great about training me, so I guess I will chalk it up to experience and look elsewhere.

About the on-the-books thing -- I was wondering about that tax issue. My parents handle the taxes for me because they do that stuff professionally. I don't want them knowing what I'm up to. And I don't like lying. Theyw ere getting upset at me for being unemployed so I told my dad I'm bartending at a go-go bar. He's not happy. I feel really weird making up an elaborate lie though.

I reviewed the place I work at here if anyone wants more details: http://www.stripperweb.com/stripclub...mer#review3140

Ok, so more about the house fees:

The house takes half of every dance AND they expect a tip out: $3 to the bouncer, $5 to the DJ, $3 to the bar and $3 to the house. However, customers at the stage are expected to tip, so you can make $15 a dance there, and you can make tips on private dances as well, which they don't touch. So I think the club takes less than 50% after all is said and done, but probably at least 30%.

Also, am I still getting ripped off considering the price of dances? I have no idea what the going rate would be. Here is my share: I take home $30 for a 20 minute VIP room gig, $10 for a private nude dance for 5 minutes, and $5 for a regular lapdance at the stage.

Okey dokey.... things must be waaayyy different here in Denver. $30 for 20 minutes in VIP would cause me walk out of the club considering a topless private dance is one song (at average of three minutes) for $20, I keep it all. At clubs where nude dances are offered, they're $30 per song.

Most upscale clubs here, with or without a VIP, allow guests to buy entertainers off stage rotation... If you want an entertainers uninterupted time, it's at least $120 an hour with only $20 per hour going to the house... this does not include private dances.

I say I consider 10%-20% to be fair because no matter what I make, my housefee is still the same but my tip out to support staff changes... I tipped 10% to DJ's capping it at $50... Anywhere between $5-$15 each to doormen, housemoms, and valets (what can I say, I like my car nice & warm when I leave), and when bartenders or servers recommended/introduced me to customers, I tipped them 10% of what I made off them.

DAMN! Wow, I wish I was in Colo then!

I am in upstate NY. I see people complaining on other threads that it's hard to make money around here, so I wonder if these rates are standard for the region or what. I would love to find an upscale club with a valet. I don't know of any existing within a few hours of me.

Holy crap! Girl - you need to do some club searching! For comparison factors we get $100 from a 15 min VIP (cost is $175)
