    Default there will be blood

youtube trailer... check out the freaky score

I saw this movie down in L.A.; it's getting wider release tomorrow. This movie is AMAZING; tied w/ No Country for Old Men in sheer brilliance. It's a 2 1/2 hour long movie about oil expansion at the beginning of the 20th century in California. It's well shot and Daniel Day-Lewis blew me away. Anyway you should see this movie.

Haha, that sounds really boring. It's also about religion.

I dunno but I just read a Rolling Stone article about the author of No Country For Old Men....don't sound like no one could get more brilliant than he! *runs to check*

awww wtf all's i can find is a blurb from some1's blog.

    "Cormac McCarthy's Apocalypse
in Rolling Stone by David Kushner, 27 December 2007/10 January 2008
Despite abundant admiration for his literary work, author Cormac McCarthy has stayed out of the spotlight throughout his 40-year career, but Kushner finds him in his element at the Santa Fe Institute, an "unlikely genius club" at which McCarthy is a fellow. McCarthy tackles tough questions of science at SFI, driven by his belief that "the most curious thing of all is incuriosity." McCarthy has been criticized for the often horrific subject matter in his novels, but he says he's merely trying to send a wake-up call to those instigating their own demise, as "his money is on humans destroying each other before an environmental catastrophe sets in."

But the RS said he has written dark books like, a brother gets his sister pregnant and other bizzare shit, will def be checking him out!

Oh yeah, he wrote 'The Road', which came out last year and was both the pulitzer prize winner in fiction and also an oprah book of the month... it's really post-apocalyptic and has cannibalism and family love and stuff. Super dark!

We should remember "There Will Be Blood" is based on Upton Sinclair's "Oil" - lets hope it isn't a perversion of another great author's work.

Lets see - make movie about a guy who fucks his sister or a movie about unbridled capitalism meets unbridled religion meets unbridled socialism? Not to mention Sinclair nearly single handedly cleaned up the meat packing industry with his book "The Jungle."

Standing on the shoulders of giants if you ask me.

Also, the fucking-his-sister thing is about a book that is not a movie. There's no sex in There Will Be Blood.

I saw this last night. I thought it was epic and beautiful and enjoyed it very much, right up until the last scene. My date disliked it heartily, thought it was unnecessarily depressing and not worth the time.

I saw this, and LOVED it!! I'm not normally a huge fan of movies like this, but I thought it was so well done.

Havent seen no country for old men, somehow the trailers never got me interested.

I need to see this movie. No Country for Old Men was brilliant, although my S.O. thought it was "the worst movie ever" (she doesn't enjoy violent movies though, and NCfOM is definitely violent). I have up trying to explain why I thought NCfOM was so entertaining.

I'm not reading this thread until Friday. That's when I'll get to see it, and complete my collection of Oscar-nominated Best Pictures.
