in terms of economic stimulus, from what I have heard ALL of the Democratic candidates want to raise taxes in one form or another. This ultimately takes more money out of the hands of strip club customers, and in turn leaves less money to be spent on dancers.
As to anti-strip club laws, with the exception of the state of Ohio every other anti-strip club law has been a local city / county ordinance. Thus while a Democratic president might be better for strip clubs in the sense that it's likely that more 'liberal' federal judges would be appointed under a Democratic president, it's also rather unlikely that a whole lot of 'liberalism' would trickle down to state and local levels where these laws originate.
I think we are in trouble no matter what, for a while anyway. If the economy continues to tank, I'm sure everyone will feel the impact.
All of the front runners for President are populists, which means (generally) more taxes and public programs. If a republican is elected, he will want to restrict sexually oriented businesses for "family values" reasons.
If a democrat is elected he/she will want to restrict sexually oriented businesses because they exploit people.
The best bet (as far as strip club business goes) would be a libertarian. But that philosophy is about as likely to be successful as communism is.
Predictions for 2008?
1. I don't see much changing in the strip club world. You'll see more freak show style features available (midgets, contortionists, giant boobs, live piercings/suspensions etc). Places like Seattle won't change a thing because there is no public pressure to do so.
2. More states will adopt medical marijuana laws. Some municipalities will council their LE officers to put marijuana crimes at lowest priority (Most cities in Oregon and Washington have already done this).
3. The real estate market will have a slight upturn then will slump again going into the summer, causing more panic about the economy. Presidential candidates will begin promising bailout programs to get elected.
4. The presidential campaign will get heated. There will be a lot of people screaming at each other over ideology. There may be more violence (like the guy that held hostages at Hillary Clinton's campaign head quarters). The election may even cause strife in families as family members get emotional about the whole thing.
Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!
Ask me this when I get back from my little excursion to The Beltway....
As per last night's "Real Time with Bill Maher" (Tony Snow got hammered by all the other guests) the political climate is gonna get ugly. Think of all the things people were saying during the end of the Vietnam war...

... and think about what happened to the US economy at the end of the Vietnam war as well ...Think of all the things people were saying during the end of the Vietnam war...
You're definitely correct on this count !!!You'll see more freak show style features available (midgets, contortionists, giant boobs, live piercings/suspensions etc).
