It was surprisingly difficult to find a free online voice mailbox since privatephone.com closed. so i did some digging and I hope this helps someone!
I tried few sites and when the # is called it's very obvious that it's a messaging service. So after signing up for a few duds, I found one that's perfect!

the number rings several times and there's no advertisement after your greeting. it gave me a 206 (seattle) number, which is great cause I live in Phoenix. And might be good for anyone else on the west coast.
it emails the voice message to you. I have them emailed to my phone. I have a sidekick 3 and am able to listen to the messages without even calling a number (no wasted minutes!) you can also choose the quality of the message, which changes the size of the message when emailed to you.
