Default well, back to dancing (in pdx)

I got a real job! It's cool -- I handle the publicity and marketing for a fashion company in this city. It's just me... the company is comprised of the owner, the sewer, the pattern maker, the intern, and me. It's challenging, I'm learning a lot, and I have a lot of responsibility.

    However, it's 15 hours a week. That is, 3 half-days.

I think I need to go back to dancing. I thought I could either a) get a second job I recently interviewed for -- but did not get or b) work with a temp agency here in Portland.

However, especially since I'm only doing half-days, I can't really get enough office hours.

My main options, I think, are to
    a) go back to dancing day shifts at my old club -- a decent suggestion. I really like the club itself, and I figure it's just as slow/busy as any other club in town
    b) cocktail waitress at that club. I'm not sure if that's a good idea, though. I'd want to just work the opening/day shifts, and if that's (slightly above) minimum wage + tips, would that be decent money?
    c) go work at another club with a day shift. where would be okay? the acrop? dolphin ii?

Any way I do it, I'd want to work only 3 shifts/maximum a week.

    Ideas? Suggestions?

I was at the Acrop yesterday for a steak and the girls seemed to be doing OK. Not fabulous. I really think that your home club would be a better bet for day shifts. And personally I think cocktailing might be fun, but it might not give you the flexibility of being able to go to work whenever you want.

Well, selfishly I want you to cocktail at our club, because we really need a cocktail waitress who's on top of things. It takes forever to get a freaking drink during the day, so the guys would love you. And you're hot and could dress all sexy - AND I know that during the day they allow dancers to do private dances if they have time, and guys will offer crazy money if the want something they aren't supposed to have.

    BUT, it's up to you.

And cool job!! That sounds rad. I love marketing and publicity stuff. I hope it turns out to be a cool deal.

If the club in question is the one I spent four days at this past week... meh. I'm hoping Portland gets better than that. Most of the customers were broke and unemployed, there for a free show with their dollar beer, and OMG waaaaaay too much of Modern Rap's Worst Hits (I love rap but you know the songs we all hear way too much of these days). Liked the club people very much, but I'm scouting still.

I don't see the point in cocktailing when you could just dance. But if you're burnt out on dancing, then that could be a good option.

Funny y'all mention Acropolis, it's high on my list of places to try next.

Yep. Ooops. And I should add that even though they are allowed to, I've actually only seen it done once or twice. So...

And regarding what Yekhefah said - last week was the second worst week I think I've seen in the club, the worst being a week in August during our "heat wave". Still, I think I'm checking out some other clubs pretty soon myself because the reputation of our club, unfortunately, is pretty crappy.

Some kick ass cocktail waitresses can make decent money. So, a couple hundred bucks on top of the security of not paying a stage and getting a paycheck regularly could be nice.

But I'm only saying cause I know anomar has been thinking about this for a while, before she went to Guam.

She's extremely attractive though and completely rocks as a stripper, I just think she should do what'll make her happy.

^ yes anomar is a bundle of cuteness! And she's smart and sharp too -- so I think she would definitely be on top of things as a waitress.
