Ok..we already knew that...but to watch him in this "training video" for Scientology...WOW. "We are the AUTHORITY on getting people off drugs, We are the AUTHORITY on the mind, We are the AUTHORITY on rehabilitating criminals....."
Just.....wow...

hes so fucking nuts. or brainwashed.
if some random person, not famous, went around saying the shit he does about scientology, theyd be taken for having a mental problem. its only cos hes so famous people pay him any attention.
cant stand the weirdo. lol
Tom Cruise makes me wet my pants though....I don't care how weird he is.
Yeah..he's my idol and role model.
Scientology is a scary cult. Read about their founder L Ron Hubbard. He was a complete scam artist.
You have to wonder about people who willingly believe in a religion whose founder openly admitted was fiction created for profit. It's like, how much of a sucker ARE you?
people please, lay off the tabloids and try the some actual news for a change. This is NOT a secret "training video" it is a bad edit job using video that anyone can watch in full if they choose. It's from a Scientology awards thingy.now if you want to think bad shit about Scientology that's one thing, I feel that way about alot of religious groups but come on, stop buying into EVERY little bit of BS that is put forth about celebs.Ok..we already knew that...but to watch him in this "training video" for Scientology
"Tom Cruise will not come out of the closet!"
Who would actually believe a religion made by a science-fiction writer? Involving aliens no less! I'm sure Tom is just gay, and desperate to hide it, so the scientology people are blackmailing him into being active with them. And Katie Holmes, well, she's either brainwashed or just plain stupid.
Either that, or Tom is just seriously confused.![]()

If I have a car accident and Tom Cruise stops to help me, I'm running away!

^^^^ How do you know this? I fell for it! I had no idea it was edited.
I don't think he's weird to tell you the truth. We're all passionate about something that makes us weird, right? Come to think of it, some people think stripping is weird.![]()

I just think that Tom is a lump of clay that Scientologists got a hold of and mold to do their bidding, a massive stupid lump of clay that is...
as sad at it is celeb stuff makes the real news. that is where I learned about where the actual video footage came from and that is was put together by a disgruntled ex member.
a good rule of thumb I find is if people want the truth about things then it's best to 100% ignore the tabloid press like TMZ, Perez Hilton, D-listed ect and instead focus on actual news source.
oh and just in case anyone hasn't figured it out yet foxnews and E! don't count as actual news sources.

well, scientology DOES say those things. it doesnt matter how it's edited. they "cure" homosexuality, they do this, they do that. it doesnt matter how you put that together, they still believe those things.
umm and ps we like perez etc around here. does it really matter if this came off cnn or tmz? who cares? doesnt make most of us any less or more interested.
Damn but he is still freaking hot, damn him!

i guess i should've expanded on that. my point was just that thi svideo, tailored or not, is still going to spark people's interest, and the source isn't really relevant. many people already have set opinions on tom cruise and scientology, or going further, paris hilton, lindsay lohan, or anything else. in today's world, these people DO make "regular" news, but so what if they dont? it doesnt make us (society, not saying you or me) and less interested.
and as for other religions, i never said anything good about them!i was just commenting on the fact that while the tape may be edited to look strange, the point is everything that he said is still a belief of scientology. it doesn't really matter how it's edited.
Unfortunately a couple hundred thousand residents of the city I live in.
I had a friend when I first moved down here that got involved with Scientology, for his girlfriend of all things. A couple years later, he ended up being committed long term to a psychiatric hospital. He was one of the most mentally stable guys I knew before he got mixed up in that stuff.
Q: What's the difference between a cult and a religion?
A: The number of members.
IMO, Cruise - entertaining guy he may be - is certifiable. Out of control. I think it has something to do with acting. Suspension of disbelief and all the wierdness that ensues from transforming yourself into a believable character. Scientology actively recruits celebrities by the way, and I think theres a two-way connection there. I think Scientology is attractive to celebrities - esp. actors because of the nature of their profession
Blind faith is a very dangerous thing.
Scientology - like any other religion or cult - is wholly fabricated, made up, fairy tales and fantasy. It never ceases to amaze me how otherwise rational intelligent people can completely suspend all notions of rationality to believe religious or cultish dogma.
"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." -Steven Weinberg
yes, yes it does. It's called a smear tactic. Taking things out of context for the purpose of making something look different or worse than the actual truth.it doesnt matter how it's edited..umm and ps we like perez etc around here. does it really matter if this came off cnn or tmz? who cares?
again yes, it does matter.
The tabloid press purposely take things out of context sometimes to the point of making up thing completely. In other words, they lie for a living. They are business to tell you false information, half truths ect.
perfect example is calling this video an indoctrination video when it is 100% not that at all. It's comes from a Scientology awards ceremony. A private function that had zip, nada, nothing to do with anything releated to indoctrination.
If people like that sort of thing as a form of entertainment, fine. But what worries me is so many take what the tabloid press say as if it's gospel or actual news. It's not. At best it's docu-drama. At the worst it's complete fiction.

This is why I'm not religious.

Scientology is definately a cult and as such is very manipulative.
The original thesis (and one they no longer mention) is that we are descended from Thetans. Thetans were supposed to be a near omnipotent race who got bored with having super powers, moved to earth and voluntarily discarded the bulk of their powers.
The original selling point of scientology was that you could regain your Thetan powers by undergoing a course of study with them.
The Thetan hypothosis went out of the window a long time ago, but the courses remain. As you ascend up the (never ending) hierarchy of courses, you are supposed to be come a healthier and more intellectual individual. Doing all the courses is seriously expensive and there have been cases of people selling their houses to pay for them.
There is a long history of the cult essentially resorting to standard brain-washing techniques - fostering a sense of psychological isolation from the world at large so that people only feel secure in the bosum of their 'scientology' family. (And continue paying course fees).
Phil.
I whole heartedly agree.
Still, watching the tape (which was admittedly chopped), the point was made that it makes him feel good about himself to believe he is really helping the world and others in some way by being part of it. A common enough human desire/emotion. Unfortunately, it is much easier to believe something (no matter how insane) to ease one's own mind than it is to actually do something that really helps humanity.

Tom Cruise can believe in whatever he wants, but I don't like the way he makes it seem like we are wrong if we don't believe in the same things he does.
There are many roads that lead to the same destination.
