Oh honey, you know damned good and well that I fucking blow you out of the water when it comes to being artsy! I've got more tattoos, more piercings, more strange clothing, better hair, live in a cooler neighborhood, and don't even own a TV, lol. You may have me on my knees in the music department, but I still kick your ass on so many other levels.

    YOU ain't artsier than ME.

Please pardon the threadjacking, we now return to your regularly schedualed posting.

lol...I will have techno played for me even on a 5-customer Monday afternoon. One of the most fun things about being up onstage with a great vantage point is looking around the bar and seeing customers of every age, race, and apparent class tapping their fingers or feet or bobbing their heads to the beat and getting into it. It's amusing and a little heartwarming--dancing to Darude and seeing the crusty 40-year-old in the business suit and the 20-year-old thug next to him, both keeping the beat with their fingers on the bar. Techno-the great equalizer.

I had an even better case of that one today! I was pissed off with Ghosh and apparently he didn't want me to be pissed, so he tossed me two songs worth of THievery Corporation to begin my set. For me, TC is kind of like snake-charming, it just lulls me into a happy wonderland of worldish fuzzyness. I also usually can make a fair bit to Lebanese Blonde in particular, despite the fact that I'm niether Lebanese nor Blonde.

It's not really one to get custies jamming though.

Then for my third song he throws me "Heart Surgery Isn't That Bad" by Jeffree Star (I think I'm the only stripper who'se ever rocked the J*...cause I'm THAT FUCKING COOL.) and I look at the bar to see two random middle-aged dudes rockin' out to it! Mind you, I always find it hysterical when anybody other than teenagers is going for the Jeffree Star...but it's always extra special to watch in a strip club when it's like random guys.

Contrary to popular belief, "Heart Surgery" is actually awesome to strip to if you give it the chance...fucking lusty as shit!

    hahaha that's awesome!

I hear the whole "middle aged white guys in suits are the ones with the money and they love old rock" thing...but I'm sure that most customers would rather watch a girl who flows onstage and is clearly having a good time over one who's dancing to "their" music but it's obviously awkward and just not working for her. I dance to what I like, and I get a lot of attention from these revered middle-aged suits anyway--complimenting me on how sensually I move and how much they liked watching me dance.

My favorite was the one suit who was old enough to be my father and then some, offering me a $20 if I would write the title and artist of the song I was just dancing to on a napkin for him.

Frankly I play music that I like (all types mind you, but ones I dig), cause I figure I'm the demographic of customers I want, and guess what, being a long haired rock guy I like good hip-hop, r&b, dance, yadda yadda, but no crap please...its not sexy, its friggin boring .

Yeah, dancing to J* is always a wonderful treat and Ghosh is the only one who allows his computer (or external HD as it stands) to be tainted with such music. Steve and Thomas just laugh at me. *Stink eye @ Steve*

I agree with the dancing bit too. I generally make way more money to songs I love. I have a few She Wants Revenge songs routined and they're usually pretty good. I did a predictable little Fall Out Boy-Gym Class Heroes-Something set today that should logicly fit my immage, but I got too bored and it just kind of sucked. Then my next set was a gorgeous chunk of really pretty trance and I decided to expirament with the "wide sparkling eyes and beaming smile look...an utter 180 from my usual emoness and all of a sudden I was raking it in.

That's my main complaint at the moment...I look emo but I've become so bored with dancing emo and general rock that my boredom is actually visible and I lose money. This is the shitty part of music being integral to who I am.

You ever get the "Future Feature Entainers" that belive they can do what the want because they got a really bad $1500 boob job and buys here so called "credits" off the internet... I had one and she would bring me her CD's... OK I have no problem playing her CD's if I have time to scan the song and decided if I am sticking with format or not... But she waits till I have less than a mionute until she is on stage to come to the DJ booth and tell me what she wants... Please tell me what you would do????
