    Default RAVE!: The Daily Plate

So, Boyfriend and I had decided to start watching our girlish figures.

I'm actually underweight (though this is normal for my family, I just have to eat a certain amount to keep at a certain weight, if I fall below a certain number, they've threatened me with a high-calorie diet (woo. *waves hands*) So I need to eat a certain amount in calories, all the while keeping it healthy.

Boyfriend is technically considered obese (I prefer the term extra-cuddly.) and had desired to lose weight, but had no one who would do it with him. His mother (unaffectionately referred to in my blog as my Monster-In-Law) would do it for a weak, but kept junk in the house, and she fell to temptation, and so would he. I offered to do it with him.

We made accounts on TDP, and an estimation of our height, weight (though it gives you options for body measurements too!) and our designated course of action (maintain weight, in my case, and lose 1.5lbs a week in his) and it have us a number of calories to either meet or stay under. You then track all of your meals, and it tells you how you are in terms of calories, sodium, protein, carbs, etc. For example, if you had too much sodium, it would tell you a percent, like 110.55% of what you normally need. It also breaks down your consumed calories into carbs, fat, and protein. You are also encouraged to drink 8 glasses of water a day and track that on a water-consumption chart in the upper right hand corner. You also may track your weight on a chart.

After one week, Boyfriend lost five pounds. More than what he should have, but he's thrilled. We hope that his weight loss stabilizing into something more healthy (at most 2lbs a week) but still! Success!!

    I love Daily Plate!

don't worry about the more than 2 pounds he lost. that will probably be water weight. so, he probably did lose two pounds of fat.

also-- if he truly is obese, weight at the beginning really does er, melt off like butter, with a little effort. It's the last 30 pounds or so that are a bitch to get off.

Nice recommendation! I just signed up at that site. They make is so easy because they already have the nutrition info for the stuff I've been eating, then they lay it all out on a pie chart. Damn... had no idea I was eating soo many carbs...

I've been writing stuff down in a food journal but this is so much more thorough, so thanks for sharing the link SS!
