Okay film buffs, I need your help on this one. I'm taking a course on Identity Politics and I'm trying to find this film:
It is an old black and white movie about the relationship between a "light-skinned" black girl and her mother... Throughout her life, the daughter refuses to identify herself as African American, and subsequently rejects her dark skinned mother.... I can't for the life of me remember the title, but there was a scene when the mother brought the daughter her lunch to school, and the teacher said "but we don't have any Negro children in our class," and the mom is like "yes you do, my daughter is right there." And the daughter gets all upset b/c she doesn't want anyone to know she is black... And she doesn't accept herself until her mother is dead.![]()
Any help would be much appreciated!![]()
