Default Where to advertise for dancers?

    Hi Everyone,

We are opening a new gentlemen's club in Portland, Oregon soon and are hiring dancers now. You will see our ad on StripperWeb.com just as soon as Pryce gets back to me on how to pay for the ad. I also have a posting on the Portland craigslist and I will probably be putting an ad in Exotic Dancer Magazine. My question for all of you is there any other places that you regularly look for dancer openings? We have auditions next week and I want to get the word out to as many dancers as possible. I didn't see any listings for dancers in the Mercury or Willamette Week so I thought maybe that those aren't the right places. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful.

    Thanks in advance,

    Johnny

I saw your ad in craigslist the other day and figured it was a new club since I haven't heard of it. I'm going to audition

I have seen ads in the Mercury for dancers before on the back page, so it might not be a bad idea. Also, contact the Exotic magazine and get an ad going for the February issue if you can. That way you can greatly increase the amount of girls that want to check out the club, as well as increase customers. Unless you've already done this.

Craigslist and Exotic are the main places I look for auditions. I also know that some people will go into other clubs and try to recruit girls from the rack. Although its frowned upon.

Good luck with the new club. See you there

    Hi Shay,

    Thanks for the info.

I will definitely put an ad in exotic dancer. You are right about the stealing girls from other club method. Several of my employees have suggested it but I told them it was against my ethics.

If you need directions or have any questions just call or email.

We will be serving a late Mexican lunch everyday next week from 3pm-7pm. It's totally free so bring your appetite with you. It will consist of some of the Mexican food we will be serving at the club. It is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Bring your friends. Lets make this a party!

I hope to see everyone here for the fiesta, Ole!

    Thanks a lot,

    Johnny

I'd think viral or word of mouth advertising works best. But, since it's for an opening:

How about an amateurs and auditions week? advertise this and you'll get loads of custies and probably alot of broke college cuties.

I'd consider helping you out, but I go to school far, far away!

    Hi AznExtasy,

The name Casa Diablo might seem scary at first but Portland is known for being pretty trendy and outrageous at times. I think it will be good for marketing and the curious factor. Hopefully, once customers come inside they will see a charismatic rockin' strip club that is worthy of spending mucho dinero at.

Amateurs night is a great idea. Maybe even amateur week. I will definitely put it in the pipe line.

Hey there, I saw your post on CL (I've would have seen it first in Exotica, because I read it at work) and my first thought was , "oh, I'll wait and check it out in a few months", only because as a dancer, my time is too precious to sit around in a brand new club, before they get word of mouth out and customers coming in. So if I was in your shoes and I wanted to have a kick ass opening and get a good reputation out there, I'd maybe even consider offering dancers an incentive to work the first few weeks, a small flat rate, free drinks and food - something. They'd all be super hot girls of course and they'd shoot your photos for pr and all that.

I think the strip club in portland that decides to step it up with advertising and publicity could really stand out from all of the rest. I mean if I ever opened a club I'd have a website and girls out promoting the club and radio and billboards and on and on. I just love that shit. And no one in Portland does it.

But I am always on the hunt for the perfect club. So I may check it out next week. Are you near the Nicolai Tavern place, or did you take over that club?
I'm confused, but the Chewbacca Truffle Shuffle cleared it up. - Emily

i really agree with what holiday had to say. no clubs in portland do a ton of advertising or draw much attention to their clubs. they seem to rely on regulars and word of mouth. i second the billboards, website, radio plug ideas.

    Hi Holiday,

Thank you for your ideas and suggestions. We will be conducting a complete advertising and marketing campaign. I just booked a continuous 12-month full page ad in the next issue of exotic dancer which will come out January 31st, just in time for our grand opening. We will also be doing a heavy direct mail circulation to all the businesses in our area which have a predominately high male worker make up. And I do love billboards. You will see our ads there too.

Our location is about a mile west of the Niicolai Street Club. Other than them we have virtually no other competition in our area and we have over 50 on site parking spaces and plenty of roadside advertising frontage.

Thanks again for your input. I look forward to seeing you next week.

yay! I found the thread! I am so excited. I agree with what holiday said:

"So if I was in your shoes and I wanted to have a kick ass opening and get a good reputation out there, I'd maybe even consider offering dancers an incentive to work the first few weeks, a small flat rate, free drinks and food - something. I just got back into town and was planning on heading back to my home club, but since I'm so excited (and have high hopes for) this new club (that happens to be super close to where i'm living now), it would be nice to have a small flat rate or some other incentives--- unless the club is slammed full of customers the day it opens-- because why wouldn't it be?? it's a vegan strip club??? AHH!! I'm so excited. It's really cool you're donating 10% of profit to an animal charity too- you're going to have a lot of really awesome dancers in there-as well as custies. The name of the club is kind of scary though- I know portland is kind of weird- but there's already a devil's point.

Exotic magazine is great and oregonerotic.com is taking off as well.

One club recently had a contest where if dancers did three shifts in a certain amount of time (during January I think) they'd be entered to win money. Something like that would be good, or a special low house fee.

I originally came up with the name Casa Diablo years ago back in Los Angeles where I am from. My idea was to go down to Mexico and open up strip club that all the gringos would like; a mexican atmoshphere but american feel. Anyways, the interior of my building is just gorgeous. It has a lot of wood and brick and wrought iron work and I thought it would work very well for the Casa Diablo theme.

Also, in my younger days when I was good looking young buck (if I do say so myself :>) and I would visit strip clubs I personally thought the more feminine names of some clubs was just silly, kind of like a place for pathetic guys that could never get a good looking girlfriend and were desperate. I plan on making Casa Diablo rise to the top of the elite pack and truly be world famous and the premier gentlemen's club in Portland.

Gypsy74, I love your enthusiasm! When are you coming down? I have much I want to discuss with you.

Shay, I'm still waiting for you, too.

iambonbon05, thank you for the oregonerotic.com tip. I had forgot about them. I already have created the full page ad for erotic magazine and I like it so much I am having 5,000 full page flyers printed up to blast the whole North West area of Portland next week and 5,000 full color post cards for my direct mail campaign.

We just put up our "nude dancers" and "coming soon" sign up yesterday afternoon and we already are getting customers coming in. It is already starting to spread like wildfire. Two guys came in because their friend called them and told them. They love the place and can't wait for us to open. One dancer came in today and loves it she may start this Friday even before we officially open.

I still need to line up more dancers, though. I invite everyone to come down and take a look. I believe you will really like it.

Thanks everyone for all of the suggestions and advice.

Are you planning on hiring 18-21 year old dancers? Both Gypsy and I fall into that category...

I'd like to talk to you, maybe audition.

    Hi Needtodance,

Yes, we will be hiring 18-21 year old dancers. Come on down for an audition 3pm-7pm. I believe we are going to have an avalanche of customers coming from the positive response I'm getting from the workers in this area. If you have any questions you can post them here or PM me if you prefer. Thank you.

I like the name. But I've always had an affinity for the way diablo rolls off the tongue.

Your description of the club sounds cool, I will definitely check it out. I work all week and probably won't make it in to audition, but maybe sometime.

Good luck with opening, it sounds like you know what you're doing.

This is extremely exciting, Johnny - I have been a vegan for 8+ years and would ADORE working at such a club. However, I currently work at Stars Cabaret and Mary's Club, where I can count on good income. Like Holiday, I have been burned by new clubs who opened without much business and expected hot girls to stick around to "help the club" without compensation.

It is awesome that you are so interested in feedback. Please don't go the route of the countless other clubs in PDX.. offer the girls flat pay and meals until you get business. A strip club that offered pay, even for a limited time, would have girls pounding on the door, allowing you to hand-pick the ones you like.

Oh, and I'm sure you have figured this out already, but the guys in NW Portland LOVE the video poker. I swear that Pirate's Tavern could have stayed afloat had it had those machines.

Feel free to PM me. I will definitely also come in when I get a day off.

    Hey Johnny

Please, for the love of all thing uncouth and unholy, don't pay Rock Star to help book girls for you.

I have some suggestions, but right now I'll just say welcome to the dark side.

    Hi BadPixie,

I will be putting in video poker at Casa Diablo. The application process is quite arduous and lengthy but we will have them.

My first concern is that the dancers make money. That's why I'm pouring money into advertising to insure a good amount customers. What amount of a flat fee do you think is reasonably fair?

    Hi Sun Child,

Several dancers have called and said they were coming but only one dancer auditioned yesterday. I don't want to use rockstar either but I got customers walking in and asking when the dancers will be here and I hate not being able to give them a definite grand opening date. If you got ideas I'm listening.

I've often said, possibly even here at SW, that's how I would run my own strip club. Flat pay (+tips), health care, retirement plans...

Of course, I don't have the bank loans to open my own business. Maybe tonight's lottery drawing is the one that will let me quit my day job...

I think just not having a house fee would get girls pretty excited, but obviously the more money the merrier.

I would totally come in if I lived closer to Portland but alas it's almost an hour just to get to my current place of employment in Salem. I'll definitely have to check it out sometime though.
