    Default new at feature dancing

I just was hired at a club as a feature dancer. I don't do pornos or xxx mags, just put on a good stage show. The club pays me a set amount each night to do these shows, not a whole hell of a lot because i don't have any kind of big name recoginition, but the pay is not that bad considering. The problem is with this club the customers seem so lack luster all the time. Not much energy. I have to do sooo much to get any kind of response from them. With the regular house dancers they don't even bother to clap at the end of the sets anymore. I have a couple of shows that i do well with, but i need some more exciting ideas i think. I was thinking about learing how to do fire shows. That might wake the club up a little.
    Any other ideas?

Use this club as one for experience only and see how you can improve yourself and your act. If you manage to fire up the customers you'll be able to earn that much more and, at the same time, find a club with a much more appreciative response where you can make your name and move into the 'big time', if there is really such a thing.

You have to act really enthusiastically when the crowd is not. Most feature shows I've seen had something to do with whip cream, chocolate syrup, ice cream, lotion, hot candle wax, soap, and elaborate costumes.

Have you tried doing a search?? I've never seen a crowd clap for house dancers sets so I wouldn't worry about that. I think a fire show would definitely wake the crowd up, along with AznExtasy's other suggestions.

Where are you working? Canada or the US? What kind of rules does the club have in regards to customer interaction? I have a million different ideas but I need to know what you have to work with lol. Do you have a shower at your club for after your shows? Are you supplied with a changing room for yourself?

Sounds like your at my old club lol. I worked as a house feature at a club in Toronto and it was brutal and damn hard to pull a reaction out of the crowd.

If you want to learn to do fire I reccomend you talk to Alena Downs. She's on here and she's at polejunkies.com - she can teach you over the internet. Or maybe you're close to her studio - I'm not sure where you are at. She's a great instructor, really reasonable prices, and GREAT to work with.

The club is in southern california and praises it's self to being one of the more classy places in town. So i can't go crazy on the nasty factor. A lot of women come in also. It's nude and doesn't serve alcohol, which may be why the crowd is not as much in a party mood as i'm used to. I do 4 shows a night from 11 to 3, the best show is after 2 when people come in after drinking in the clubs. No shower and i'm in the same dressing room with all the other girls, which i don't mind. Shower would be nice, but i don't live far from the club and have an hour between shows.
The thing that got me hired was my pole work, but i want to do more than that to set me apart from a regular house dancer. I do a really good candle wax show which gets a lot of attention most the time. And i'm have a lesson to learn fire body tracing tomorrow, i'm hoping to incorperate that in next weekend. It just seems you have to do so much here to make consistant good tips. And i need some really good tips. Lots of dept to make up! So i want a few special shows to rotate through. But i haven't seen a lot of feature shows so i'm running out of ideas.

Fire body tracing??? I genuinely hope they are certified to teach that!!!!!

That is SOOOOO not an introductory to fire shows. You need to learn to control flame before you put it near your body!

Yes, I do teach fire. Everything from making your own wands, to skin ignition, tracing, eating , blowing, poi, devil sticks, staff, fire hoops, finger fans, etc.

I was a fire performer for the last 8 years of my career.

If you are interested in the different ideas for feature shows, feel free to pm me!

I have trained enough of them! LOL!!

Yes I highly recommend consulting with Alena Downs about shows. She was one of the best features Canada ever had. She has the craziest most original ideas and is one of the most patient people I have ever worked with. She gave me all my feature training and its paid off for me big time in the long run.

Im curious as to what body tracing is?

Also I hope your keeping a close eye on all your stuff in the changing room. A lot of house dancers(usually the ones you would never expect it from) will sabatoge your stuff out of jealousy. House dancers usually hate the feature. Its sad but true... speshly if they know you started out as a regular house girl and worked your way to feature...

No offense to any SW girls. SW girls don't count because they're one in a million

If it's ok by the club rules do something to get the crowd to participate. And you can do this without being XXX.

Cooter or boobie ball- get them to throw $$ into a glass and give away promo.

Rides for $5- have them lay on the stage with a $5 or more over their face and dance over top.I've seen this done where the dancer picks the $$ up with boobs and with the crotch.

If you have pics, throw them out to whoever screams the loudest.

    Just my . Good luck!

Sorry but it takes more then 5 days to learn to feature.

Most feature schools are a waste of money. I find it amusing actually that Alena Downs ends up getting most of the 'feature school' students from the US signing up for her classes stating that the 'feature schools' they tried in the US were a waste of money.

Nevermind its amusing you pop on here and spam every feature thread on the site with your 'school'. Even digging up threads from two years ago.

Thanks for your support! I am a 11 year veteran of the feature world and yes, I am still learning new things about featuring every day, as you hopefully are! We never stop being students of our craft do we? It's always a work in progress! BTW, didn't you go to feature school? I know I did when I started in 1997! I was taught by McKenna Mills, Miss Nude Universe!

It's really unfortunate that someone posts on here and gets harrased by those that don't even know who they are talking to . I am impressed that you are so dedicated to your teacher, she really is a great one! Please, ask around. I have a decent name in the feature biz. Hey, if you really want to check out my school and find out if it's worth it or not, go ask my students! You can find their comments on myspace.com/FeatureSchool all my top friends are my students or are involved in my school. Maybe you should continue to do shows in Canada, and I will work with the girls who will tour down here!

I live in california. And have shows to do every fri and sat. Can't travel to florida for any feature school anyway.
I really do appreciate all of the advice and help that you girls are giving on this site. It is a great thing. Women helping women.
I might get in touch with Alena, i'm curious on how she does lessons over the internet.

Alenas online classes require you to have a webcam and microphone. She does amazing one on one classes online. I have done pole classes with her online while on the road.

BTW Nakita turn on your pm's.

I did my first fire show at the club last night. It had a great response! I was so nervous about pulling it off, i just started learning it and didn't want to look stupid up there. But i guess it worked pretty well. The crowd got into it and i made the most tips i have since being hired as a feature there.
I wouldn't recommend this for many people though. I did a ugly burn on my stomach on the very first lesson, that was mainly because we were using the wrong fuel, too hot. I put a lot of practice in it and am just happy the first time trying it in front of a crowd worked out well for me. And i'm sure the club's happy i didn't burn it down .

    fuel?!?

OMG girl I hope your not using anything more then 70% iso!! (rubbing alcohol). Anything else is just asking for severe burns!!

Otherwise good job on the fire show

I use 91% alcohol now. Good flame, and not sooo hot.
They had me use white gas (camp fuel) when i was learning. I don't know why, maybe they wanted to burn me. So me respect for the fire or something.

Wrong Fuel??? OMG...who is gods name would instruct you to use the wrong fuel??? Or did they intentionally give you the wrong advise??

This is why getting proper training is important.

Be thankful it was only a small skin burn....with the wrong fuel you can inhale the carcenogens and cause PERMANENT damage to your internal respiratory organs!

91%??? There is only 50%v/v (rubbing compound ), 70% USP and 99% USP.

50 is actually 99 with half water...DO NOT USE.
99% burns high and HOT...DO NOT USE.
70% is usable, burns high enough..but NOT hot..

    PLEASE BE SMART!

That is a deadly way to learn. That person should be shot for that.

91% is still too hot of a flame. Use 70% and if you want a bit more of flame add a small amount of 99% (no more then 15% of the 99% though so it would be 85% of the 70% and 15% of the 99%). I've been doing fire shows for almost two years now and was taught by Alena Downs who is licensed for fire and flammable and certified to teach wand making and fire shows and has been doing fire shows for years and specializing in fire shows.

Pleas please please be careful. As for the person who taught you and told you what to use for fuel... well we wont go there.

    No fire breathing for me!!
I knew from the get go i don't want to do that.
I have a friend who does and she does it quite well.
But no matter how well it's done, there is going to points when fumes or dropplets get down your mouth and keep on going down.
    Not good for you.
I have to take care of myself for the long haul.

Maybe in US there are different concentrations of isopropyl alcohol. I can find 50% 70% and 91%. That's what is sold in all the pharmacies. I went with the 91%, doesn't seem to be too hot for me, but maybe that is because i learned this stuff using white gas (which is very hot).
Like i said before though, i would not recommend this whole fire thing for most people, when it all comes down to it, you're dealing with fire. Fire is hot. Fire burns. Fire is dangerous.

Well fire isn't really 'safe'. I mean yea its a hot flame.

If you are trained PROPERLY in the use of it though its not bad.

ie make sure there is no air turned on when your on stage. You use the right alcohol, you make sure that your flame is not to large when you put it on your skin, you are running the flame AWAY from your face when you light your skin on fire etc..

Its about being trained properly and having a respect for your flame. I love doing fire shows, I used to do them like 3 times a night lol.
