    Default Online GPS for teens?

Whats that device you get for your car so you always know where your teenagers are? It lets you know how fast they are driving, where they have been, and what direction they are headed? My mom wants to get it for my sister, who just got her license.I know Lojack is just for police to trace a stolen car.So its not that. thanks

I... wow. My jaw is on the floor.

    Would the daughter know? Just...wow.

I don't know the device, but I couldn't help but express my (fragmented) views on the subject.

I think they are pointless and expensive. Couldn't she just get in someone elses car to go wheres shes not supposed to? I think an intensive drivers ed course would be much more valuable and could show her the dangers of reckless driving before she does it...not just after mom finds out. The only value I really see is if she breaks down....but then she should already have a cell phone.

One of them is the DriveRight CarChip btw. Most cars are compatible with it. I think it does seem like a logical idea at first for someone who wants to protect their kids but I think there are more effective means, such as just keeping open communication.

I feel the same way. If she has such little trust in her daughter maybe she shouldnt let her have the privilege of driving...

My sisters a good kid,not a liar. She(mom) just worries. Which she does,A LOT. Almost so much that it's extremely irritating.Where she lives isn't the safest.I havent been there in years, but when she says its not real safe,I picture where Im at,Pcola..and Id want to know where my kids were.I dont think its a problem with it unless she sits at the PC with a cup of coffee stalking. LOL But just checking up for peace of mind seems reasonable to me for a mom whos youngest girl is finally getting around on her own...

I don't see it as a bad thing, now days a lot of parents don't even care about wth their kids are doing.

Heh, I totally could see my dad doing that back when I was a teenager. Kids always find ways around stuff, though. Back then, my cell battery would "die" at the most inconvenient times.

I'll bet that's a really expensive bit of technology!
