And how do you find a coat doesn't look like a frumpy marshmallow???? I am so clueless on how to dress for cold weather. I grew up in Florida, so I've never had to dress for cold weather. Right now my winter wardrobe consists of:
2 pairs of jeans
2 pairs of socks
1 pair of boots
2 long sleeved shirts
1 zip up knitted sweater
1 thin scarf
1 long hippie-ish skirt
2 pairs of yoga pants
1 medium length hippie ish skirt
a really ugly horrendous hand-me-up from my little sister bomber puffy brown coat with a fake fur hood. EWWWWW.
and a ton of tanks tops and flowy skirts that I CANT wear!
What I've been doing is wearing a pair of jeans with boots and the ugly jacket, but I don't feel like myself, because normally I wear skirts and tank tops and lots of bangles and flip flops. I don't understand how to dress myself??
The other outfit I wear is a pair of yoga pants, with a long skirt over it, with the boots, both long sleeved shirts and the zip up sweater over it with a scarf- this outfit looks OKAY, but it's not warm enough.
I think my problems would be solved if I could only find a nice winter jacket. I want one that is mid-thigh length, not too proper looking, not too grungy looking, preferably brown or green or purple or some crazy color that isn't black, white or grey.
Help anyone?? I've tried the north face and columbia, but everything there is too sporty for me, and I want to find a coat I can wear with skirts.
ps- and if you can't tell, I'm back from my trip and in portland!!
