Yeah I knew babies were born with hair, but usually it's very light. That girls gonna have a beautiful head of hair when she grows up, I bet!

For mixers, my love, you'd poured--what?--even the rain.

I'm usually pretty cute-autistic, but that is an amazingly adorable baby. Congrats! Rest up.
Good job kitty. I'm all "Wow I can't believe you made that. It makes my christmas cookies look like crap".

*yawn* I was like "Daddy, I need some SW time. Take the bottle, please!" Thank you so much for the well wishes, everyone. There's better pics on my facebook if anyone wants to see, so if you're not a weirdo or a creeper you can add me. I volunteer Cally to be my official Facebook-screener, so if you want to friend me she can tell you who I am.
My milk finally came in today. I've been giving her formula since birth and now that I managed to pump out a decent amount she wouldn't drink it! Little brat, ha ha. She's copping an attitude already! Her dad says she takes after me.
I'm starting to heal up from the surgery, I think. It doesn't take quite as long to stand up as it used to. I still have to sleep propped up in bed but at least it doesn't feel like my stitches are going to split anymore.
And now for the labour story...*shudders at reliving the experience*
I went into labour really early in the morning on the 16th. My water broke at 7:15 am, and we checked into the hospital at 9:30 am. I was about 4 cm dilated, the pain wasn't too bad so they took me to a birthing suite and fed me breakfast. Everything went fine until I stalled at 8 cm dilated and sort of stopped progressing. I didn't really want any pain medication since I didn't really find it to be unbearably painful but they suggested an epidural so my pelvis would relax and hopefully let me dilate the last two centimeters.
Okay, fine. They did the epidural and I took a nap since this was around 11 pm that night and I was getting tired. I woke up with the most insanely painful cramps that were, hilariously, right in my ass. It turned out the epidural was still working but for some reason couldn't even touch this...pain, whatever it was. The nurse finally speculated that baby had come down and was resting on a nerve so she got me pushing to try and get her past that point and off the nerve. The pushing rocked for pain relief but every time I pushed baby's heart rate would drop and take a long time to come back up afterwards. She had come down facing up instead of down and got her head wedged in my pelvic ridge. I was developing a fever at this point, so infection was starting to set in from my water being broken for so long. So, a potential infection and a distressed munchkin had me going into surgery at 6 am on the 17th. My little princess was born 26 minutes later.
I hurt and I'm swollen and boy, am I ever tired but I'd happily do it all over again. I couldn't imagine not having her now.

D'oh!! Why didn't I see this thread until today? I was just gonna PM you wondering where the hell your pics were! LOL
She is such a gorgeous little cherub! All that hair! OMG you must be so in love. Congrats!
But sweetie WHY did you give her formula? I thought you said you were going to nurse?! Put that baby on the tit ASAP!
OMG how cuteeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

I tried, seriously! I ended up getting a huge nasty infection in my incision that called for equally nasty antibiotics and painkillers to get rid of, so baby can't have any of my milk until I work the junk out of my system.
Ugh, I still pump every three hours to try and keep my supply but I never got much to begin with. Must be in my genes because my mom never had a drop of milk come in after she had me either. Boo.
\
Awww I'm sorry. That must have been hard for you both.
On the subject of milk supply - maybe it's your pump. A LOT of women never get much milk from the pump, but have great results with using a combination of . That video helped me SO MUCH. If you still want to nurse, which is really the best thing for your baby, it is probably VERY possible, although you might have to do a little work to get your milk up.
How do you know you didn't make any milk? Have you had help from a lactation consultant or LLL leader? A nurse? A mom who nursed before? I can't tell you how valuable and necessary these resources can be to a new mom.
If that is the case that you didn't see engorgement (which some moms don't anyway), the reason could be because she didn't nurse for the first (approximately) three days. Babies at that time need to practice nursing, and getting colostrum. This signals for your breasts to produce milk. If she bottle fed without you pumping or nursing, your breasts didn't get that signal to make milk.
It seems like maybe you have resigned yourself to formula now. If you need any advice or anything, feel free to PM me. I have been through it ALL. I won't take up any more space in your thread about it, but I am a little bit concerned and wanted to offer my help.
Again, congratulations!! Whatever you choose, you are so lucky to have such a beautiful little girl to hold and love.
