    Default tempurpedic beds

does anyone have one? i just got my deluxe mattress and boxspring delivered this morning. i ordered from brookstone, since they had a 24 month no payments no interest plan, and while they sell all of the 9 types, they only have 2 to show. yes, i shouldve gone to a different store to check out the other kinds. but luckily, they have a 90 day full return policy, and the salesgirl told me that most people if they utilize that, they exchange it for a different type. so thats my plan if i dont like this one, go look at the other ones somewhere else.

just wanted to see anyones experience if they have one! if you do, please say what type it is: classic, celebrity, etc. and i'll update with info once i break it in and give it a few days.

(ive posted about getting one a few times and i dont think anyone has mentioned having one.. but my fingers are crossed!)

Actually, I went looking to buy a tempurpedic at one time, and the store i was in also had the Strobel, which is less well known. It's similar concept, but better. It's also cheaper. I like it better by far then the Tempurpedic. In fact I have 3 of them now and I LOVE these damn beds. They can be ordered online easy enough. Info if interested:

well, its too late for that! i already have this one! and i dont think my parents would be too happy (it was my grad present) if i changed the brand entirely. if i dont like it, i have to stick with something in the tempurpedic line.

i kind of wish i didnt get it... but im hoping that will change when the bed isnt freezing and its softer.

I'd love to have a tempurpedic bed! I do know that my tempurpedic pillow has worked WONDERS for my neck - I often used to wake up stiff, sore and misaligned - like, VERY frequently. Not since I got this pillow.

I do think they soften up, Britt. Ultimately firm is better for your back in the long run, but I'm sure it'll get much more comfy!

Good to know about the Strobel, too, Will - I hadn't heard of it before!

The material is heat temp responsive, so yes, hard wehn cold but molds to your body shape. They are also harder when new like any mattress. I like the sarobel better, but you didnt make a bad purchase at all and people love them. Stick with it.

I have a tempurpedic pillow and mattress top. I have been using a tempurpedic pillow for about 10 years. I love them. My mom has the mattress, although I'm not sure which one.

When I was still living at home my dad got a Select Comfort bed for everybody, which is pretty much the same idea. They are definitely nice and comfier than other beds but I don't know if I'd spend the money on one. I'm a cheapass though

I have one and love it. I got it a year ago. I fall asleep so quickly on it. Best sleep of my life without a doubt. You won't regret it. In the winter if you are not on it the material gets hard (pretty cool). But as soon as you touch the bed it forms to your body and you never feel any pressure no matter what position you are lying down. Now it is the only bed I will ever use.

Not even! Not in my experience. I've had a Select Comfort (the Sleep Number bed) and a memory foam mattress, and memory foam beats all. It has ruined me for other beds. As far as type, I have no idea, and do not know if there is a big difference in firmness. Love mine, though.

yeah, i thought the sleep number beds are totally different thing. there is a huuuuuge difference in how they feel, which is why i think the one i got might be a bit too firm for me, but we'll see. one of the pricier ones, when i looked at it, i thought it was horrible! its good to hear you guys saying you love them though. a 14 day trial period is recommended, and i did just take a nap. i didnt hate it.. i just usually prefer softer over more firm.

I don't have a tempurpedic (although I have a firm mattress with the visco foam--same type of material tempurpedic is made from). But, if you want softer, can you put a feather bed or something like that on top of the mattress?

^ yes, but it still won't be the same. i have my old mattress cover on it now. like.. if you put a fluffy cover on a table, it would still be hard, you know? but im just hoping i'll enjoy it! it'll soften up a bit, and like i said, i can always check out the other models and exchange it. im not quite sure why i wanted this mattress lol...

I don't have one. I'm wondering how much they cost though. It seems like everywhere I look, nobody lists prices. I might like one but I don't think I want to go out and spend a bunch of money on a bed.

It is totally worth it, in my opinion. There's no other furniture in the house I spend eight hours on every day. Anyhow, we got a queen sized memory foam mattress, some Italian brand I think, at a Design Within Reach sale for about a grand, which I think is a pretty good deal. We've had it three years.

I got a generic memory foam mattress from Walmart for like $300, I'm not sure what style it is, but it's soo much better than my old spring one.

tempurpedic ones run anywhere from around a thousand to a lot more.. mine was 2400 with the mattress, boxspring, plus they delivered and took my old one away. if you look on the tempurpedic website they have prices.

i slept well last night, i'm just having trouble getting used to it.

I love mine! I don't know what kind it is though. I do remember that it took some getting used to, like when I first laid down on it my back would hurt like my vertebrae were stretching out, but it doesn't do that anymore. I find it so so hard to get out of bed now, no matter how long I've been sleeping!

^ thats good to hear that it took you some time. im hoping for the same!

edit: after doing some research, i dont have much choice. the softer ones are waaaay more expensive than this. though i guess if i really dont like it, we send it back and get a nice soft mattress with some kind of fluffy cover as my "graduation present," though that would be silly since in that case i couldve kept my old mattress.

I didn't read the responses so I apologize if this is redundant....

I despise these beds. I've only slept in one on one occasion so I may not be the best judge.

That being said. The bed heats up to your body temperature. This might work well for you being that you live in a cold state. I, however, do not. And I'm a hot natured person. I get SUPER hot when I'm sleeping.

The other thing I hated was that if I wanted to roll over in the middle of the night, I had to literally pick myself up out of the bed and turn over. I've got a herniated disc in my lower back and this caused for MAJOR flare ups. Thank god at the time I worked for a chiropractor!!

I just bought an intellibed when I moved to Los Angeles. It's amazing. I've had their pillows for awhile and I sleep SO well.

I do, however, LOVE LOVE LOVE my temperpedic eye mask.

i dont feel like i have to pick myself up at all! if i want to roll over, i do! i dunno, i think its pretty comfortable.

I'm glad you're enjoying it then! Good luck in the summer time with the heat thing. I wonder if there is a way to prevent it from absorbing your body heat.... maybe a tempurpedic ice pack, ha.
