This is as opposed to, say, the 37" Toshiba I bought as a gift a few months ago, which has a 12 month warranty and an "Original purchaser (or gift recipient)" limitation in bold caps around the second paragraph of the warranty page. (Or, for that matter, the model from Wal*Mart which also has a 12 month warranty...)

And like Britt, I have had my electronics expert friends swear by the Sony XBR series...
yup. it will be absolutely fine. this is the best tv you could get in this size, i have no worries whatsoever!! even if there WAS an original purchaser clause, this is one of my best friends, so it wouldnt be a problem.

*****I'd caution against buying something your friends owned previously, you won't have a warranty in effect for as long as you may want (or at all for that matter) and for the price, you can get a damn good TV (westinghouse, LG, Sharp are all good by Consumer Reports and by those I've seen in action) for the same price if not cheaper!!!
see that ^^ post the warrenty isnt a problem, and even if it is, this tv is the best of the best in this size. i dont really need any "noooo, dont do it!"s because that's what i'm going to do sure, i could get a good tv for that price, but im getting an amazing deal and the BEST for that price. i appreciate it, but i was just sharing what i decided on.

plus, i asked someone else if they think it's a mistake, and he told me not at all, that i'm not going to have problems. and i know another girl who has bought a tv from them before. like i said, theyre just upgrading because theyre getting a great deal. its not like they want to get rid of the tv for any other reason. and the reason theyre upgrading is bc they found ME the deal on a 52 inch tv that i decided not to get bc its bigger than i wanted, so theyre going to take it.

If you can wait a bit, keep your eyes open over the next month or so.

The new models tend to come out in the spring (Aprilish). There should be deep discounts on this past season's models after everyone sorts out their after-holiday inventory.

I'd go for LCD up to the higher 30's and Plasma for anything 42" and up.

LCD's are typically more expensive "per-inch". Colors are a bit richer in LCDs, but they use more elecricity.

I wouldn't buy a TV used. Especially off of Craigslist.
