    Default getting hired

Did you guys have to give the club all your information like social security number before working there? Im worried that future employers will run background checks on me, and see that I was a dancer.

One club asked for my information (it was two years ago, I don't remember if they wanted my SS#) and a photo copy of my ID.

Another club, didn't ask me for anything.

I don't believe I've ever worked at a club where I DIDN'T have to give personal info. Just like applying for a job anywhere else.

I have always had to give personal info but the only real way a future employer will find out if you danced is:

    1) If you put something like "entertainer" and/or a club name on any credit application. NEVER do that. Always put "self-employed" on credit apps because this gets saved in your credit file which many perspective employers will pull as part of a check.

    2) If you work in an area where you have to get a stripper license. This is a matter of public record and if people want to look up this info they can. It's not likely to happen, but it could.

    3) Websites like myspace. Don't ever use your real name to register a myspace account. If you have a myspace account registered with your real name I suggest you go and change that ASAP. Many employers are searching these websites for perspective employees' names to see what they can find. It's also good for your own personal piece of mind and ID security to avoid using your real name on any "community" websites.

I've always wondered this myself. I think I'm guilty of #1 (while applying for a credit card), though it hasn't came up when I was recently hired with MAC. How could I find out if they do have that kind of information on me?

You can pull your own credit reports. It's free to do it once per year.

Not only did I have to give my social and id but I also had to fill out a W-2 form. I don't get paid by the club in any way so I'm not sure why I had to fill out any tax info but it did freak me out that it might 'be on my record', too. Thanks for giving me a little piece of mind Bridgette.
