    Default BarFly Mag Strip-O-Rama XIII

I wasn't sure where this should go, so mods, feel free to move the thread if necessary.

A local magazine, now a website-only, called BarFly, runs a monthly-or-so tour bus of bars in Portland, OR. They typically have a theme for the night, and, Portland being Portland, every so often the BarFly crew do a strip-club-themed bus tour.

This coming weekend is one of those nights. The BarFly Strip-O-Rama bus leaves on Saturday!

I'm not an employee or writer for BarFly (dammit) but I am a paying customer. $25 a head. I'm going to be on that bus. It's going to hit 8-10 different clubs Saturday night, and me and a friend intend to party all night.

Are there any dancers in Portland that know if their club is going to be visited by the BarFly Bus? And if so - is that a good thing, or a bad thing? The BarFly folk put on a good party, and I know I'm a well-tipping hands-off kind of guy, but what other kinds of customers ride the BarFly Bus? Is it looked at as money in the bank, or more like an annoying bachelor party?

The stops are so brief (10 clubs in a night = rarely are the guys there for more than 30 minutes) that it just isn't a factor. Whoever is on stage when they show up might make a few extra bucks, but it's just in-round of drinks-out.

I guess that makes sense. The bus runs from 7p - 1a, that's only 6 hours. Given driving time... yeah. Oh, well.

Sure would be nice to have a little advance peek at the clubs, though, so I could say "howdy" to anyone from SW...

Sounds like a blast. I've always wanted to go on one, I hope you have fun! I don't work Saturday nights, but I'm curious what clubs you'll hit up. You should post all about it on sunday!

If I am anywhere Saturday night I'll be at the DII and I can't imagine they are going to spend time driving out to Beaverton. Do they tell you where they are going or is it all a surprise?

Both the starting location and the specific clubs are a secret. I won't know where to catch the bus until Friday, when they email me.

...apparently. This is my first time on the Bus.

How mysterious! I'm glad you're a hands-off guy. I wouldn't want someone to give you a knuckle sandwich and say, knock off your hat. Six hours in strip clubs with discounted drinks. For me personally, that would be a recipe for vomiting and financial ruin. I think I might lose control. Sometimes when I go into strip clubs I'm regrettably a cheap ass, but other times, especially when doubles are involved, I am an ATM-machine-visiting fool. It's seriously something I can't afford to do right now. Good luck brother!

    Lunarobverse,

    How about this idea:

At each brief SC visit, you walk up to the stage--why do I think you'll be wearing your hat that night?...but anyway--and tip one of the dancers in rotation $50.

This will make a dancer happy, for sure, but it could also result in you being named SC King of the Barfly Bus, or some such monicker. Hell, there's even the chance your exploits will become famous that same night, if dancers call friends at clubs farther down the line. You'll know this has happened if, as hat-wearing you approaches the stage, you hear, "Cool, the Barfly guy. Where's my $50, hon?"

    Have fun.

That would be like when I was on that party boat in Cancun, and they rounded up all the young tanned buff guys... and me... and held a competition for "Sexiest Man on the Boat".

I won, of course. Still have the bottle of rum I got as a prize.

I'm always wearing a hat! And I will be wearing the hat in my avatar.

Hmmm... I'm just a humble civil servant. I might be able to do $20 per club... We'll see. Or I could just try to drink as much as possible at each stop. That'd be more fun for me.

$20? That won't make an impression. Don't be cheap, dude, especially now with the economy needing our best efforts.

    $50 won't make a huge impression, either.

Wait, a $50 tip to a dancer on stage won't make an impression? I didn't say "huge" impression, but you don't think it'd be a little notable? Did I mention he'll be wearing a HAT?

sun child is just giving me shit. Plus, she hasn't actually ever seen the hat. Which I can totally arrange, if necessary.

Oh, I will see the hat! A $50 tip on stage is notable, yes, but it won't have the dancers calling their friends at other clubs and it probably won't garner you the title of King.

Good point! Honestly, I was thinking the other BarFlys would apply this title to him.

I wouldn't turn it away. Some guy walked up to the stage at Mary's last week and handed me a $50 and I thought that was just awesome. I mean, it was no makin' it rain, but it was pretty cool.

I take it you have never been to Oregon, the Beaver State, nor watched a football game played by the Oregon State Beavers, nor visited the corporate HQ of Nike. There's a lot of beaver-themed nomenclature out here. There even used to be a strip club called the Beaver's Inn.

The Beaver is Oregon's state animal. (Not the slug, as may be commonly believed.)

If I did, I'd hope to have a chance to win it back at some point... a friendly game of poker or pool, perhaps?

    Hey Luna,

Out of curiosity I clicked on the link for the Strip-O-Rama, and it says it's "Saturday, June 21st, 2008". Is someone confused?

Sexy Blonde at She Bar: We have so many other delicacies to offer.
    Shane: Really. ... Like what?
Blonde (suggestive smile): Tongue ... pie ... muffins ... ladyfingers ... I could go on.
Shane: Well then, maybe you should think about giving out samples, so everyone gets a taste.
    Blonde: Yeah.
