    Default Let's Talk Costumes

    Hi everybody,

This is my first post here at Stripperweb. I’m “Maxine the costume lady” from Indianapolis. Since I recently launched my web store, I’ve been reading lots of forum posts to see what dancers think about costumes, their local costume people, etc. What a range of opinions! Some girls think you should buy stuff from Goodwill, some think they’re getting ripped off, and some think it doesn’t matter what you wear at all.

Obviously I’m biased. After nearly thirty years of taking care of my customers in Indiana, I know that what you wear, and how you look does matter. I’m pretty sure that my girls, (and the club owners), would agree.

What I really want to do, though, is start a dialogue. I’ve read alot of things about rotten customer service, ridiculous prices, and stuff that looks good in a catalog or on the web, but when you get it, it’s junk. None of these things even kind of applies to Mean Maxine. I know you guys don’t want to hear about how long I’ve been in business, but hey, I’m still around, and I’m still #1, (in spite of there being about a hundred Priscilla’s stores around here). And now that I’m putting my stuff out to the big, wide world, I want to know what people want.

So let’s hear what you think. What are you wearing? Who does good work? Who doesn’t? Have you ordered one size fits most, (but not you)? Let me hear about it.

    Maxine

I like your stuff! I'll buy a few things to wear out to some parties even. Esp. the weed outfit, loves it.
I hope to have the funds to open my own boutique someday (first online, then storefront), but that's probably not going to happen for at least another couple of years.

Actually for 3 and 4 piece outfits they're not that expensive.

The stuff I have thats pants, jacket, thong, bra, choker and arm pieces I pay anywhere from $160 - $240....

I like that you have size/measurement information, are open to special size requirements, and keep sizes on file for future orders. You're right; "one size fits most" with no further info is a drag when ordering on the Internet.

I apologize for not having anything on-topic to contribute at the moment, but I just saw the name and had to say: meganomaniac, I luv your username.

Back to the topic at hand!

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post. Thanks too for all the encouraging words.

A note about prices. The prices on my website are exactly the same as the prices in my store in Indy. They are the same prices that my salesgirls charge out in the clubs here.

The main qualities that make our costumes superior are fit and finish. Take our g-strings for example. First, every pair is lined, front and back. The sides are finished with soft but strong elastic through the crotch. This ensures that they hug your body, and won’t “shift”, even while doing floor work. It takes longer to finish a g-string this way, but it’s the only way we work. Many of the large manufacturers use a binding on the edges of their “thongs”. This edge treatment may look ok on a hanger, but it’s not designed for real dancers in real-club situations.

Remember: An Escalade and a ’91 Chevy both have four wheels and a horn. The similarities end there.

I just want everybody to understand that I’m proud of my products, and will put them up against anything made by anyone else out there. I want every one of you as a customer, and will do whatever I need to do in order to earn and keep your business.

Can’t wait to here from you all again!
