nope I live in a gated community in Melbourne .... I love that I am high up on the road and they are a safe car
Can't wait - so excited
I got upgrades of a bull bar, tow bar and a tray cover (the plastic lining for protection) I may get a hard cover down the track but it looks more of a problem as it doesn't allow good use of the back tray - plus my mum has one (mistu triton) and she can't stand hers
Can't wait till feb![]()
uhh what the hell do you need bull bars for if you live in a freaking city? arent they proven to cause deaths in other motorists? safe for you maybe, but that kid you just hit at 30kms doesnt stand a chance.
i dont even wanna start with the lectures, but imo poor car choice if you arent going to use it anymore then driving around a city.....never mind the enviroment.
hot car if you lived on a farm tho!!

except it is a turbo diesel so it will probably get like 30mpg
*edit I did the math it should get about 22mpg which is excellent for a full size truck!

Will you swear on your life, that no one will cry at my Funeral!
Just wanted to point out for future FYI:
SUVs height does nothing to make you safer. Sure, you're up off the road but
1.) it makes it harder to see things right in front of you, increasing the chances of you hitting something.
2.) That big, high vehicles has a greatly increased roll over capacity. And they do roll over easily.
Nice car though.

nice! I love diesels, I have one too![]()
I honestly don't understand why people drive these big vehicles (big SUV's and large trucks) if they either aren't hauling something on a regular basis or have more than 2 children. It's eatting up our gas, it's hard to see around them and they aren't all that safe especially for the person in the smaller vehicle. I guess anyone who wants it has the right to own but I just don't see why it's neccesary.![]()

Screw the haters.
Awesome car! I hope you enjoy it![]()
Guy #1: I'd totally hit that.
Guy #2: Dude, I'd hit that so hard whoever could pull me out would become the King of England.

While all your other points are relevant, I disagree that it's eating up our gas. The vehicle in question is a diesel not a gas, and is therefore plausibly better for the environment than a big sedan in the following ways:
-it will definitely get better gas mileage than a big sedan. (My big SUV gets 24 mpg!)
-the exhaust is better (case in point: put your nose all the way down to MY tailpipe, and all you smell is faintly reminiscent of bleach)
-option of using biodiesel
-future option of using used fry oil, with modifications (not immediately plausible for newer vehicles yet)
-vehicle may last twice to three times as long barring accident(maybe even 500,000-a million miles!) thereby reducing the waste of discarding it early like a gasoline (upper limit 250,000)

Plus why the hell buy it new? You probably just lost over $10k by driving it off the lot.
Nice car.
I personally like something closer to the ground, smaller and compact. Easier to park and drive IMO.
Then again if you are using this car for your private party work and might be going "bush" with it I can see why you bought it.

Thanks for the nice words for those who share my new pride and joy
For those who have nothing nice to say, instead of jumping to conclusions and making out it is too big, dangerous and chews to much gas I think is a little rude - well it came across that way to me
Diesel engines as mentioned last up to 500,000 - 800,000km's therefore are better for the environment compared to petrol/gas cars that last max 250,000km (most I have ever had a petrol car last is 125,000km) after that they are really only good for wrecking and parts
Fuel economy - This is where a diesel engine really performs. It will average between 20 to 50% better than its petrol counterpart. However, it will not have the same power so in some situations a diesel has to be worked a lot harder to perform and this takes its toll on the fuel economy. Overall in every day driving, you would expect at least a 25% improvement.
Other advantages are that its better fuel economy help improve its range (for a given tank capacity). This is especially helpful in remote off-road driving. Also, diesel is a "safer" fuel due to its lower volatility. An uncapped petrol container will produce a vapor trail that can be ignited up to 20m from the fuel container. This has proven particularly hazardous when a vehicle has been refueled from a jerry can and the vapor trail drifts towards the campfire.
Diesel engines are generally slower off the line and therefore slower over-all then petrol engines, which means slower driving making it safer for on road use especially around school zones and shopping centers.
The car will be used for towing most commonly our new car size trailer that is currently being custom built for atv's and dirt bikes other then that wont be used unless my partner is going to work (only 7km up the road) We don't really go far unless it is for business - which as GCG knows is mostly in the country and rural areas of VIC
We have just purchased reverse parking sensors that have a video screen (full color) that will sit in the front cabin to allow full vision when reversing. On the back of the trailer is a camera that will be wired through the electrics of the trailer and will also have full color vision behind us. At the front of the vehicle a aerial is placed on the front bumper bar to allow for measuring when parking. It sucks because most sedan drivers don't go this extent for vehicle safety yet they have just as much chance of an accident as 4wd
congrats! I say if it's what you want, then buy it. Nobody should have to drive what other people tell them to drive.
Congrats! If that's what you really want, then who are other people to tell you what to drive? I just got an impractical BMW convertible which is impractical for our family but it's my dream car so we make it workCan't wait to see pics!
I'm insanely jealous! That's a sexy truck!!

Unless you're a contractor or farmer hauling stuff, you have absolutely no right to drive that.
I hate trucks, hummers, SUVs, etc. There's no point.
I think it's pretty crappy that people think they can tell someone else what they have a right to drive. You have a right to your opinion, but she has a right to drive what she wants. I'm sure you have done or owned something in your lifetime that people would say you had no right to.

If you don't want to drive a big Hummer, don't. But.. how can you say that somebody doesn't have a "right" to drive a certain vehicle?
All it is about is some kind of consumer status symbol. I think you should have to have some kind of special permit or license to drive anything bigger than you actually need. Not only are they unsafe, they use more natural resources, they take up too much room, have poor visibility of pedestrians and not to mention the production costs, cost of the vehicle being more and they just make you look like an asshole when you drive one? I bet people would drive around Army tanks if they were allowed. Americans somehow think bigger = better and its' a disgusting disease. Enjoy your deathmobile.
