    Default Mia....ladies of colour, hair.

For hair experts here i ask.

OKAY...here i go. My hair is UBER blonde. I admit i am afraid of the salon at this point and time.

I checked out Clairol wash in washes out in like 6 shampoos. Will this be ok for me to shampoo over my very light hair with a golden blonde i see on the box?

I just want to tone my colour down...and am afrid i may go too dark if i just dye it as i planned and look goth...not good for working the hospital.

I want a sexy warm colour. Golden blonde would rock..

PS will this stuff damage my hair, it says gentle as shampoo?

Why not go into a salon for a toner?
I can't believe box color will be as gentle as shampoo any day.

Call it once bitten twice shy. I need time after getting my hair chopped to hell.

I read the box and it only coats the strands with a very temp. color. In other words if i get caught in the rain the colour will run all over me.

I just want to know if anyone knows about this type of colour. If i like the colour that turns out i will see where i can go from there.

I went to the best salon in my area... so they said. I should have sued. But was far to in shock, and still am when i look at my hair.

Many would say OMG it's so long, it is in the very back...but looks stupid. It's razored and i was hoping a color could help with change. I alread had the very top layer thinned out at a salon, yet again. But i need a very good person who understands i pride myself on my hair.

Since you are so bleached right now, any color is going to get sucked right into those open hair shafts! Be very careful, better yet, find another salon and go there. Get them to do a strand test first to know what you're getting in to.

When it comes to color, you really need to go somewhere, not do it from a box.

Maybe you could look into one of those 'glaze/gloss' products. John Frieda makes them, & other companies too. They are avail. at Walgreens & other drugstores. They don't contain bleach & can't drastically change your color. The JF prod. sells for around $8.50 at Walgreens, & also avail. at Ulta. I'm going to get one myself, they have a honey/carmel one for blonds, & a lighter one. You can also have it done at a salon (more expensive, of course). When I got my hair overhighlighted a few yrs. ago, this was what they recommended, & I had it done, & liked it.

I am not an expert yet but you don't know what is in that box exactly. That's what my instructor told us anyway. If your hair is porous, meaning the cuticle of the hair is already open because of damage the color will get in despite the fact it's temporary. Permanant colors and some demis contain ammonia which help open the cuticle to allow the color into the cortex which is where the color is stored. Does it contain ammonia? Look on the box and read what the ingredients are. The color will take quickly and likely fade quickly as well. The worse it could do is turn you green or orange. If you don't like the color you can probably wash it out with a clarifying shampoo or even Dawn dish detergent, just make sure you deep condition afterwards.

Yep used tt for blonde hair. It's nice and silky no colour change. I will use it again.

Damn if i can ever double quote!!!

Okay no ammonia. It's the old skinny box, wash in and washes out in like 6 shampoos. Was checking out the golden blonde one.... but damn if this hair is bothering me. I know what you mean about the blonde having like holes in it... and it will grab colour quick. You would think that would be a plus. But it's not in my case. I don't want to go green...

SHIT...a trip to the salon for a Demi? I dunno, i'm scared. I will take a sht of the back of it tonite with my real camera, let me know what you think.. and the crazy layers around my head oh ignore that.

okay it's very long (in the back) but the layers around the front suck, and see that layer around my head? OMG!

I thought a nice darker colour would help me.

The root colour you see is my real colour, kinda reddish brown. Don't care for that however.

I mean if it says golden on the box then you should get warm tones from it but that's not a guarantee. Your hair might get orangey but like I said hun if you have dawn dish detergent or clarifying shampoo and use it immediately after it will strip the color especially since it does not contain ammonia. If you do not like it and wash it out just use a deep conditioner on it afterwards.

I want ramble on too much but the manufacturer of the color has no idea what the person who will be using it hair color is. They don't know if it's natural or colored hair. It's honestly hard to say what it will do. But if it doesn't have ammonia in it then you can do what I mentioned above to get rid of it if you don't like it.

The golden blonde might make the new growth (roots) a reddish tint but I doubt it because temporary hair color lacking ammonia or peroxide can not lift darker shades to lighter ones. The red the product adds will wash out quickly because red tends to fade the quickest with haircolor.

If you want to do it I'd go ahead with it and if I didn't like it I would use a clarifying shampoo to wash it out.

You can pm where you live and I can tell you where a Aveda salon is close to you.

Why did they cut that one layer around the back??

I would be afraid of using any type of home color with hair that bleached. And I would be even more afraid of using that and then clarifying shampoo or dish detergent! If that stuff can strip off temp hair color then it's gonna strip off your natural oils and part of the hair shaft as well. Not good when your hair is already super bleached.

Pam I think the best thing you can do is get to a different salon and have them put a toner on. Just a toner. I know you're gunshy after a bad experience, I TOTALLY understand, but I'd be even more afraid of cheap home color products.

Ask some women in your area for salon/stylist recommendations.

    Pam,

Since your hair is so blonde, it will catch whatEVER you put on it. And if you accidentally put in a brown that has ASH in it, it will turn a greenish color.

Just go to a salon and tell them you want a honey blonde, or something warm. Thats hard to mess up. A color in a box can be super sketchy.

Any those temp colors stink. They will look great and then a few washes later, you will be back to the "uber blonde" So pick a nice color from a mag, and tell the hairdresser THATS what you want. Make sure you feel comfortable with her (or him)

    Good luck.

    DON'T DO IT!!!!!

Even temporary color can have a permanent effect on porous hair... Although it says it shampoos out, your ends are most likely so porous that the color will not rinse out, regardless of what you shampoo with. Your only options to remove the color is with a cut or bleach.

I'm very afraid that the warm blonde color will be very yellow or orange... If I had you in my chair, I'd formulate half your glaze with clear... your hair is soooo light that even a level 9-10 (lightest pale blonde) color will probably grab on darker and more vibrant than your desired result.

At least do a strand test before proceeding with an all over application. The good news is most temporary, semi, and demi permanent haircolor is actually good for the hair, so your hair should be in beter condition that before you colored it.

    I agree!

I would not trust a home product at this point. Go to a salon, ask for the most experienced person and just talk to them about it. Get more than one professional opinion, if it makes you feel more comfortable about it. And I hope that you were at least refunded something considering what we do and how VERY important our appearance is (even if it is just for the sake of confidence, it still makes a difference)

    But you're still SMOKIN'!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My hair was bleached as well before when I was blonde and not nearly as thick as Pamela's. I put a semi on and didn't like how dark it was so I did use Dawn and deep condition afterwards meaning I left the conditioner on my head for 15 minutes. The recommendation to use Dawn came from my stylist at the time. It worked fine and my hair was actually in better shape then it was before. I am not saying Dawn or a clarifying shampoo is something one uses on a daily basis but it can remove build-up, a green hue from chlorine or a temp color as I mentioned.

I can't believe that whore fucked up the layers so bad. I didn't know what you were so upset about, but now I do. What a dumb cow, I hope you mentioned that to her.

Of course it will grow out, but still, that is so fucked up. There is absolutely no reason for that top-shelf she cut into your hair.

I actually bleach and tone my own hair and it seems to have problems grabbing color from a toner. It's not totally fried either, so I'm not sure why that is.

My old stylist and friend, gets the products for me and I've never had an issue, but maybe that's because I don't generally use the boxes. I have on occasion though with no adverse results, as long as I tone with half 9N and half 8N I'm all good. I've never had a toner grab undertones either and I wanted to point out that green is generally a natural base, ash is usually blue or sometimes violet (I think that is now being marketed as iridescent in store boxes though).

Anyway I completely understand your adversion to the salon. No matter where I go or how much I pay I seem to get really bad results.

^^^ Is your hair grabbing specific tones (like does it look too ashy or brassy) or is it just a tad bit too dark after you tone it? If it's an issue with specific tones, you need to reformulate your toner... darkness typically results from simply leaving the toner on too long.

First THANKS ALL! ummm, i guess i made a mistake getting under my pink lampshade. It threw shadows it seems. The hair is very light, white in certian streaks. I never used a toner...have no clue. I always use a streaking kit by Loreal. And just go to town with the kit.

FUCK....guess i will just pamper it and keep letting it grow. Yea the bitch who put that layer around my head was a layer that about sat on top my head when i first got it done....I was not able to see what was happening, she had the chair turning so much. The front looks real good, the back totally sucks. So... i am not happy with the colour or cut probably due to the cut only. And feel desperate. Growing it out seems to be the hardest stage. At first i pinned the front all up... it kinda looked cute.
