    Default floating drink prices?

Just wondering if this is common. Well Drinks are $5 in the club I frequent. That is just from experiance, there is no "menu". Upsale to Absolute is $7 (usually what we do). But no matter what the order, the price usually changes from night to night (or more accurately, waitress to waitress). I usually don't say anything if its a buck or two. Except on one night my wife ordered an Amaretto Screwdriver and the waitress tried to charge her $16 for the drink. That was sort of my breaking point. I paid it and then asked for a manager. It was of course reduced. But I guess my question is thus: Are waitresses just making up numbers and pocketing the difference? Does anyone have any experiance in this area? All too often I order well and am charged for premium, or order premium and get charged for ultra premium. It isn't the few dollars, its the feeling of being taken advantage of that sort of kills the fantasy.

Any club I've worked at has had a set price for drinks. Some girls aren't really sober enough to accurately add large drink orders, but seeing a difference in an order of 2 drinks shouldn't be happening. My guess would be the girls or the bartenders are pocketing the difference.

Actually I have a sneaking suspicion that could be a violation of licensing regulations. I'd check if I were you.

Drink prices are confusing... There's happy hour specials that end at 5 or 7 or whenever depending on the club. Then there's nightly specials, dj you name it 2 song duration specials, etc etc.

But really $16 for a drink sounds ridiculous and you were right for getting a manager.

Unethical and possibly illegal. I'd be pissed too!

I know at my old club they raise all the drink prices (and dance prices and tipouts)during races. It pisses me off. They don't even attempt to create the illusion that they're not all about bilking you for all they can get.

But as for waitresses raising prices and pocketing the rest? Fuuuuuuuck that.

actually before I started dancing I was a cocktail waitress and one of the first nights I was working there one of the other waitresses told me that she often would raise drink prices a dollar or two if someone wasn't tipping she would do it to hispanic guys during the day shift before they had had a chance to not tip her!!! but on occassion if someone is new and it is a complicated drink- I remeber one dancer would order an x-rated and gray goose sour and if you didn't know how to put it in right it would ring up for 23 dollars 11 for the shot of x rated and 12 for the grey goose sperately. I personaly think jacking up prices is wrong because for everyone that under tips somebody greatly over tips.ask a manager or the bartender how much your drinks should cost if your not sure and tell the manager if they are cheating you.

    dou

I douibt it. Generally bars and strip clubs have set prices for drinks based on rail, call, top shelf, premium and super premium prices. Now, waitress A may off the top of her head think absolute is a call drink while waitress b thinks its top shelf, so they ring it in differently....Now, is that right? Not neccessarily. But people make mistakes, I know I do and honestly, when I'm not sure at work (I just started bartending again) what the exact price is, I just set a price that I'm pretty sure is fair. I'm not stealing. I just figured you would rather be over charged or undercharged a buck than spend twenty minutes waiting for me to hunt down a manager.

Hi! Wife of Abacusdog... In response to VegasPrincess's pointing out about the difference types of say Vodka... the waitresses there are great about asking what kind. I guess I just order "different" drinks. Oh if I only drank beer like the rest! Even at shift changes the waitresses have charged differently, and thats with asking about the "make" or type of alcohal. From waitress to waitress even they don't get it. When its to be a pain we don't angry - I just switch drinks . We are pretty easy going.

That's fucked up! You're probably getting screwed by the waitresses! I've cocktail waitressed in three clubs and seen girls try to pull that, but not to that extent. If you put up with it and pay whatever they say, it's no wonder they keep doing it. Get drinks from the bar, and consider that the correct price. If you get outrageous and varying prices from bartenders as well, I'd say hit another club. That's ridiculous.

Also you have to realize that when hiring waitresses, clubs aren't usually looking for the brightest girls. They're looking for hot girls with good personalities. I've worked with so many perfectly lovable but fucking retarded girls. So get the straight answer from the bar or a manager if you keep getting this crazy shit.

And I don't know why upselling would help a waitress. It helps bar sales, but here's the deal. If you order vodka and cranberry, you should be getting well vodka, which would probably be the cheap off-brand. If you want a better vodka, you have to order by name. Absolut and cranberry or Grey Goose and cranberry or whatever. If you only say the liquor, you SHOULD get the cheapest version in the bar.

I get vodka(absolute) with OJ and a splash of Amaretto. Usually the drink has differed only a few dollars. The one time it was $16 they said it was b/c they put a full shot of Amaretto (ummm still not a $16 drink). $2 dollars here and there made us wonder which one was wrong. But now we ask ahead of time and that seems to work. Once we call it to their attention they are good at "fixing" it .

are you going at the same time each time you go?

    because at my club

2pm-7pm is happy hour, with certain drink specials
    then
7pm-3am all of the drink prices "go up" or "go to regular price".

however, there are still specials on some nights, during events, or when they are announced via the DJ, etc.

In Georgia, it's not legal to lower prices on alcoholic beverages by time of day. You can have specials on days of the week, but no happy hours. Legislature says it promotes drunk driving. Of course, so do parking lots... but law makers never really make that much sense anyway.

I've seen where the price actually changes by time of day. Some waitresses will round up to the nearest dollar so that they don't have to find $0.50. Some of the bartenders will list unusual contents drinks as separate shots, which doubles or triples the price, rather than as a drink with an extra shot in it, which suually only raises the price by a dollar or two.
