I've never voted for the Democrat candidate for President. In 1992 I voted for Perot. I've voted for other Dems when they were clearly superior to their Republican opponents e.g. Moynihan.
Not this year. Unless it's Hillary. I'm voting for Obama or Third Party.
1. I don't like ANY of the Republicans. McCain's too old. He wants to stay in Iraq.He gave us McCain - Feingold.
Romney's changed his positions as much as Edwards has. He's just as phony as Hillary and total teetotalers in the Oval Office make me nervous.
Huckabee is a closet Liberal who'd give us the worst of all worlds- "nanny Liberalism' in the gov't and economy and "nanny Conservatism" in our private lives.
Giuliani has too much baggage; is a Constitutional ignoramus and Biden was essentially correct- "every sentence is a noun; a verb and 9/11".
Paul DOES know his Constitution and his economics but unfortunately he doesn't have a prayer.
2. Bad behavior should NOT be rewarded. Iraq; corruption; earmarks; faith over facts; excessive spending is just the short list of Republican shortcomings.
3. A sound electoral thrashing might be good for the Republicans long term and thus the country as a whole. Loss of the Presidency and Dem. majorities in both houses of Congress might force some new thinking and serious re-thinking among Republicans. A return to small government; controlled spending; attention to ethics and a realistic foreign policy would be a good thing. So would loosening the ties to the Christers.
4. Let's see what the Dems. can do. Let's see if Rangel is serious about reforming the Tax Code. Let's see what really will happen if we pull out of Iraq. Let's take a break from having the gov't worry about "family values" and let families worry about them.
5. Obama would certainly be different from Bush. There's no guarantee he'd be better but it's hard to see how he would be worse.
