    Default Personal Hygeine

Really, this is more of a rant than anything else. It seems that every night I work, I see 95% of the girls visiting the restroom at the same time as I am leaving without washing their hands.

Okay, so I am germaphobic, and I can sometimes take things a bit to the extreme...(I also wash my hands after every stage set) but I consider this completely inconsiderate because we ALL have to share the same stage. We all have to grab the same pole. We are not always able to clean it after EVERY SINGLE GIRL.

Not to mention how inconsiderate it is to every customer they spend time with.

It also bothers me when I see girls sliding the crack of their ass up and down the damn pole. I work in a topless club, so there are g-strings involved...but COME on! Do they even stop to think that maybe the next girl to go up doesn't want to have to utilize the pole she just rubbed her butt crack all over?

I could go on..and on. But I won't. I guess I just don't get it. What is SO hard about a simple task like washing your hands after using the bathroom?

I wonder if they put up a "Please wash your hands before returning to work" sign up, maybe they'd get it.

That shit is nasty. I hate the whole asscrack-on-the-pole move as well. Even worse when they're nude. Ugh. Some people have no consideration for others

I walk out of the bathroom without washing my hands, but I carry hand sanitizer in my purse and use it on the way out.

Gross. Even worse is the girls who touch their pussy, then put their hands back on the pole. Or do nude pole tricks with their pussy RIGHT on the pole. Blech. I dont want to touch your crotch crust thank you.

I'm sorry, but I dont see that as good enough. If you got anything on your hands..it needs to be washed off, not sanitized. You actually have to scrub your hands for a full 30 seconds before rinsing for them to be clean, so I cant see how rubbing them with Purell is enough.

Why wouldnt you wash your hands though? I mean...even if its enough to not pass germs on to others it would drive ME crazy. I cant just wipe something off myself or use hand sanitizer...if I think I've gotten any germs on me somehow(esp from bodily fluids...even my own) I HAVE to have water and soap to wash it off or I just feel gross.

If theres soap and a sink right there...why wouldnt you wash your hands??(not being a bitch...I'm honeslty curious because I know I couldnt do that without driving the OCD in me insane)

Me personally, I just don't like to wash my hands with soap and water.

hand sanitizer is more sanitary than hand washing.

"Alcohol-based hand sanitizers — which don't require water — are an excellent alternative to hand washing, particularly when soap and water aren't available. They're actually more effective than soap and water in killing bacteria and viruses that cause disease. "

I've never heard that. I have always been told that even anti bacterial soap has to be scrubbed on to the skin for 30 seconds or more to kill germs....so a quick swipe of Purell would certainly help, but wouldnt be BETTER then actually scrubbing. Like sanitizer wouldnt possibly get you cleaner then showering...but maybe it's just the OCD in me that feels that way. I couldnt POSSIBLY get, say...pee for example..on my hand and just sanitize it. I'd HAVE to scrub my hands to feel clean. It would drive me nuts!

    Damn OCD.

i definately feel cleaner with washing my hands, but i think thats just because it seems like it would make more sense. like, youre washing things off instead of putting something on.

*I* have heard that soap and water is the most effective.

I mean, I wash my hands after everything and also use sanitizer but would never feel as clean if I only used the sanitizer.

I always wash my hands after I use the bathroom, and I carry hand-sanitizer in my purse that I use frequently, although I'm not a germophobe. I know the pole is nasty, but not to the point I need it swabbed down with alcohol after it's used.
However, this girl I don't know came to the club to work, and she was weird. She was doing all this stuff to get the guys to tip her, and I saw her lick the pole! I think she was just trying to be sexy, but it was so freaking gross! I don't have a huge problem touching the pole if I haven't seen anyone rub their shit on it, but I would NEVER LICK IT!!

Soap and water is best, in my opinion. Soap and water has been proven just as good as any antibacterial stuff. Plus, I wouldn't touch something with my dirty hand and put it back when my hand is clean. I would much rather wash with soap and water, then dry with a clean paper towel, just seems better to me.

Exactly! I would feel like I was just layering it on top of the germs even though I know in my head that it isnt true.

SOMEONE watched Showgirls before deciding to be a stripper. Blech. I cringed at that scene...licking the pole is SOOOO disgusting. I mean..why not just lick the bathroom door handle too?

HA! You'd think so...but no. I've tried that. I've tried EVERYTHING..Purell, hairspray, bitter apple(the stuff you get at pet stores to stop your dog from chewing), nail polish remover....here..guys will try to lick through ANYTHING. They seriously dont care. Gross.

I still coat myself in sanitizer after dances where they've tried to lick me..but only because I cant take a shower after each one! Some nights I feel like I cant get home and jump in the shower fast enough...

Actually, I read wash for 17 seconds, rinse, and wash another 17 seconds, but pretty much the same eh?
I do agree with you Cam. This constant use of sanitizer has got to stop. All you people are doing is setting yourself AND the people around you up for a big superbug that will not respond to antibiotics because your constant sanitizer use has made it grow resistant.
This bugs me. I sanitize for the sake of my customers when I work at the store, but luckily that's only 5-8 hours. Any other place I forgo the sanitizer, and I even try to use it less and less at work. It's not helping anybody, especially my immune system, to be sanitizing so much. Washing is plenty sufficient.
What I hate most is those free sanitizing towelettes outside my store doors. Yeah, let's encourage this behavior!

I swear germaphobes will be the death of us.....

end rant.....this was not directed at any one person BTW....

I see girls not washing their hands all the time and it grosses me out! I agree with the OP it is rude to all the other dancers and customers (but you know they don't wash their hands either). I just try not to think about it and keep myself as clean as possible.

I recently found out some interesting info on coconut oil--it has strong anti viral properties and can kill yeast and flu viruses. I use this as a body lotion and it makes me feel cleaner. This ties into the over use of hand sanitizer as well...

    http://www.coconutoil.com/viruses.htm

"The antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties of the medium chain fatty acids/triglycerides (MCTs) found in coconut oil have been known to researchers since the 1960s. Research has shown that microorganisms that are inactivated include bacteria, yeast, fungi, and enveloped viruses. Much of this research is highlighted in the writings of Dr. Mary Enig Ph.D."

This is how I feel about using hand sanitizer, but it's better than nothing. Sometimes my hands just feel dirty at work...so I end up washing them a lot, and often before I use the bathroom/change my tampon. I'll also use sanitizer, but only if the bathroom is out of soap.

    same here
i could care less if other dancers don't see me wash my hands, but I also carry my mini sanitizer in my purse and use it afterwards.

but, do you pee on your hand? Cmon the idea maybe gross just b/c it's a bathroom, but do you wash your hands for 30 seconds after you walk in the club door? because that door is probably one of the dirtiest and germiest things in the whole club.
