    Default Recommended Tax Software

I'm in the market for some Tax Programs. I need to file for both a straight job (retail) worked earlier in the year and also as a dancer from September on, plus taxes in two states. Melonie mentioned Turbo-Tax, but I noticed it's a bit pricey. Any other suggestions? I know of TaxAct, TaxCut, and whatnot, but which sub-programs would I use from each tax-program provider?

I know TurboTax is pricey but I use the Home and Business version ($99). Takes care of everything-school deductions, w-2 from the day job I had for a bit, dancing money. Definitely helps with deductions too ( I find the educational tax thing to be befuddling at best). I bought the H&R Block one last year and it was just NOT worth the savings. And I believe you can deduct the cost of the Turbotax next year as well!

If you are filing as self=employed, you can write the tax preparation software off your next year's taxes as a business expense.

If you have Excel, go here to download a free spreadsheet that will do your taxes.

You can also write off the cost of a CPA or tax professional! I wish I could write-off the 2 days out of my life it takes me to do my taxes now, but I have my reasons for doing them myself these days (all legal and valid).
