    Default dollar savings

at my club we have lockers that become "ours". there are a limited number, but if you are there long enough, you wind up getting "your" locker. that means your lock stays on it and your things stay in it regardless of if you are there or not. you can decorate it and what-not and they put your name on it. i never had this at any other club, and it seems silly saying it, but you get kind of attached to it. i think it might secretly be a way of keeping girls, lol.

    anyway, onto the point:

i'm thinking about putting an envelope inside of my locker that is for dollar bills only. said envelope will be spending money for things i want that are not necessary. the envelope will NOT come home with me (or else i will spend it early/mix it in with my bill money... i know it). if i get an unusually large amount of ones in a shift, i might tip out with some and put the rest into the envelope. if the evelope starts getting too bulky, i may change out some of the ones for bigger bills, but put them BACK in the envelope. the plan is, however, to not go home with any ones(unless ive traded them out to put bigger bills in). the only time i would go home with them would be when i've "cashed them out" because i've reached the goal for something i want.

IOW if i want a 60 dollar bottle of perfume, i have to wait till i have 60 accumulated ones in the envelope rather than just buy it randomly. if i want a bigger ticket item (say 300 dollars) same thing.. have to wait. i'm hoping this will motivate me toward trying to get more stage tips, and motive me towards separating my "extra" spending from my necessary spending.

has anyone else tried this? i *think* i read someone saying they do something similar before awhile back. does it work for you or do you always wind up "dipping into it"? if you don't have a locker of your own and you do something similar, how do you avoid not spending it prematurely?

It's a great idea, but not in your locker. Money isn't safe in there even if there is a lock.

i dunno. i've been there awhile and no one has ever tried to get into it. there's cameras, a house mom and a big lock. i'm usually pretty skeptical, but it seems safe to me.

what you mightve read before is how girls just throw their dollars in a jar or something, i remember that thread. but not leaving it at work.. i don't think i'd do that.

That DOES sound like a good idea, and I trust you can assess the safety level at yr club....BUT....if you keep doing this over time, there will be people who will notice. You do not want that happening. Hell, even a brand new crackhead manager could appear one day months from now, and be aware that there is money kept in someone's locker. (And of course the myth still stands that all strippers are richrichrich, haha)

Can you seriously just buy a box and give the key to your boyfriend or someone else? Give the money to them to deposit in the box, or do it yrself when supervised?

OTOH...I always kept large amounts of cash around in my room, then my boyfriend seriously woke me up with this statement: "Cash is an accident waiting to happen." So very true. There can always be a fire.

Can you just open up a new savings account and make a deposit, in singles, every time? (And not be able to access it until you close your account down) What you're saying is, having it on your person at ALL is too risky?

Sounds like a good idea. I used to work at your sister club, and if it's as similar as I think it is to mine, your money will probably be safe. It'd be even more safe if you NEVER share with any of your work friends what you're doing--not even housemom, and if you never make a deposit or fiddle with it when other girls can see you.

Another thing you can do is keep a list on your wall or something by your computer of all of the things that you want, whether they're ridiculous or not. I used to do that when I hardly had any money. Once you write these things down, the desire for them becomes less of an attitude and more of a goal. Attitudes on spending are harder to control than goals on spending.

I think that's where strippers start having a hard time. Once we start making money, we don't have much goal-oriented spending and we spend "out of order." We'll buy the shoes before the vacuum cleaner and the $300 rug before getting our cars washed. When you make your list you'll see a natural order or priority present itself and it will help keep you in order.

your money WILL be safe in your locker...as long as A. the locker and lock are both operating properly, B. you don't tell people there is money inside and C. no one else has a key/combo to YOUR locker...

i did this at my last club and it worked fine...only most of our money was in ones...so at the end of the shift i would just cash in my ones and ONLY take home the money i needed for gas, food, parking, etc until the next day....plus a lil extra for emergencies. but im REALLY bad at saving, and i figure if i only leave work with $100 then thats all i can spend. i don't have a choice. worked out fine for me!! i say go for it, just keep your business to yourself. good luck!!

Don't do it. In some places, the side wall or bottom of a locker can be wrenched open or even pushed aside.

Plus, what if (God forbid) you leave on bad terms one night, come back a few day later to clean out your locker and find that they cut your lock off and "someone" (anonymous) absconded with your envelop of money? Ugh.

I have a jar on a shelf in my closet. For some reason I thought it would be a fantastic idea to stick all fives and ones in there. I saved up like $300 and really quickly, too. It's gone now, but it's fun to take down the jar and see how much accumulated.

I really don't think leaving it at work is a good idea. Maybe take an empty envelope to work with you every night so you can keep your 'extra' money separate from your money for bills and stuff, then take it home and put it wherever you want to keep it safe.

I agree, put them in a jar at home. it's a good idea, and it'll add up fast.

it is similar (from what i've heard). i totally understand the concern, i wouldn't have done it at any other club. it's just that, at my current club, it would literally take a conspiracy involving multiple people for my locker to be broken into. there are just too many cameras, management, bouncers, housemoms, etc. around all the time. i don't think anyone has ever had anything stolen the entire time i've worked there. of course, i know everyone reads that and thinks "whatever dumb bitch, don't come crying when your money is gone"

Penny, I worked at a club where I thought we had a similar thing going. My locker was mine, or so I thought. I went out of town to dance for a week. When I had come back they had cleaned out all of the lockers. Either there was suspicion of drugs, or remodeling, I forget. All of my shit was put into a garbage bag and dumped into the storage room. Fortunately, no money was there.

No matter what a club says, I wouldn't trust leaving my valuables in there. You know how management can be...

This is a great idea! I'm doing this - and I agree it'll probably be safe at work, because you'll probably be taking this money away on a weekly basis.

It might be a good idea, but in my experience, I've seen managers open girls' locks and go into their lockers when they weren't there for whatever reason. So just be careful.

I used to (and probably should again) duct tape a box shut with a slot in the top to put ones in, it definitely accumulated money and was difficult to get into when I wanted something
