... I am doing this.
Does anyone think that I'll have to boil the mason jars (to steralize them, like when you're canning) first?

That site is brilliant! Such great ideas and lovely pictures too!
Dunno about the bacon vodka though...let us know how it goes!
I guess I'll do it just to be safe, it's worth the small amount of effort.
It's gonna be f'n GOOD!I'm starting it today.

I can't really see how this would taste good? Are you supposed to drink it or use it for cooking??
Drink it!![]()

Just when you think bacon love is far enough.... lol. You would make this. I have no idea how it would taste.

What's up with the bacon fad these days? Does there have to be bacon in absolutely everything? It's like all of America has decided that bacon is The Last Good Food and hence it should be a part of EVERY food, and now drinks too!
You don't need to sterilize the jars because the alcohol in vodka would kill any potential germs, and if they're clean jars it's not necessary. But it can't hurt. Just don't boil the jars with the vodka in them or it will cook the alcohol out of the vodka.
Whachoo gonna mix it with....juice?ok no jk. That's pretty rad to do, 'cept for the bacon part.
Update: I left the bacon vodka to marinate maybe three weeks (I forgot about it, oops). It's in the freezer right now. There's this white stuff floating around in there that has me grossed out, but it's either bits of the bacon or because I used that Ready To Serve bacon by Oscar Meyer and it's whatever preservative they use in it. Seriously, that stuff freaks me out. You don't even have to REFRIDGERATE it and it's good for 14 days after you open it. That's just wrong.

Bacon preservatives...
Post back when you've actually tasted the stuff! I still can't really wrap my head around it, and I'm a very pro-bacon person. Maybe I'm anti-alcohol.
That white stuff floating is the bacon fat, which has cooled and congealed. Doesn't the recipe say to strain it out? Just get a fine strainer and pour the vodka through it, then dump the solid fat.
Edit: Actually the recipe says to strain it through a coffee filter, which is a better idea. Do that.
Sorry to revive this thread again but... it was goooood. My friend really loved it and wanted the recipe. I'm going to try a different type of bacon next time.

wierd!!!!! I cannot imagine....... I like my liquor sweet, not savory....
you should make like.... roast beef vodka or something!![]()

Did the bacon overpower the taste of the vodka?
Yea, but mine was stronger than it should have been because I left it for three weeks instead of two. It was salty. If you like dirty martinis, you may like bacon vodka.
