Try Feosal...it's an iron supplement sold at most stores (Walmart, CVS, etc) that's very easy on the stomach.
When I was pregnant my anemia got really bad, like you're describing, my midwives gave me Floradex (sp?), it is a liquid iron supplement that is awesome. It doesn't taste bad and has all this stuff that's really good for you and easy for your body to utilize. You can find it at natural food stores. Have you done internet research about dietary stuff. There is lots of interesting tips, like cooking in cast iron pans actually helps, and eating certain food combos together, like red, iron-rich meat with tomatoes is a good one.
I'm confused, but the Chewbacca Truffle Shuffle cleared it up. - Emily
Have you ever tried the Flintstones Complete vitamins? I bought a bottle at Target for like 5 bucks I think. I've been taking one a day and it's helped me a lot. They've never made me sick. I feel like a little kid again too![]()
I'm anemic. Mine isnt too bad though..more of a bad head rush from time to time. It really helps to take my pills continuously since it got pretty bad whenever I was bleeding. And I cant take pure iron because it screws with my stomach, but a decent multi will have iron in it plus other things that make the iron more easily digestable.
I also dont really eat red meat, so I make sure I eat other iron rich foods when I feel lightheaded, like spinach.

i eat corn chex. i known it sounds lame, but they contain a lot of iron. the most out of any quick food i could find. i think 1 serving is 50% daily value. i'll have some in the morning (sans milk, i just eat them out of the box) and some again late afternoon. it really seems to help.
*note ... caffeine blocks the absorption of iron. so, if you plan on drinking coffee, drink it a few hous after or before you consume iron.
