Ladies- I need your advice.... I have naturally curly/ frizzy hair if I do not straighten it. So I straigthen it often. Recently, I have been thinking of buying a new hair styler, the CHI or the GHD MK4. Which do you prefer?

GHD hands down !!!
I've never tried anything but the Chi but I love mine to pieces! It's awesome.
The have the GHD at costco online for 189.00.
It says it has alluminuim plates. Is that the good one??
Im a devoted Chi person. I love me my Chi!!!!

all plates on flat irons are an aluminum base, they then use a ceramic and/or tourmaline coating over it...
Honestly, I reseached the GHD model on Folica.com and it doesn't mention the max heat setting, it just says the ceramic in the flat iron senses the hairs porosity and delivers the correct amount of heat... which sounds like a load of horse shit to me. There's no way ceramic heaters can "feel" the hair... ceramic heaters simply heat quickly and deliver even heat to the plates.
The older model says a fixed heat of 370... if you have thick and/or coarse hair, that may not be hot enough to straighten your hair in one fluid, slow moving pass.
I tell my clients in the market for high quality flatirons to look for ceramic plated ones that have a precise heat setting you can control and that can go up to 392. If you have really frizzy or coarse hair, a flatiron with tourmaline infused plates will work better for you in terms of controlling frizz and making the hair "skinnier". If You like to use your flat iron as a styler, look for one where the plates have roundd edges.
I use Ergo's ProSleeker on my clients
It's a professional flat iron used by most platform artists, it is the lightest I've found, and has an unbeatable one year warrenty that includes damage from you dropping the product. Even after the warrenty expires, Ergo will service the product for as long as you own it. IMHO, if you're going to spend $150+ on a styling tool, it should be one that can be repaired by the manufacturer.
I've used CHI's and they don't live up to thier hype IMO.

Ilove my chi iron. Works better than any other I've ever owned.

I use my Ion hair straightener from Sally Beauty Supply. Bexst $100 I've ever spent.

GHD! I love it and it's so fast to straighten my hair with. I've been using it for about two and a half years now pretty regularly too and have no hair damage either.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

I've had a bunch of expensive hair straightners and I didn't like any of them. I was always exchanging them or returning them and finally after my CHI broke after like 6-9 months (I had lost the receipt by that time), I got a $30 wet to straight hot iron from Wal-Mart and it worked just as well as the CHI and has lasted me longer.
GHD all the way!! It is so versatile and quick and it really does help keep your hair healthy. I found the CHI to be really damaging. Do a search for my recent thread on the GHD, I absolutely love it. In fact, I have some pics to add to it now.

i have a sedu, and i think it works better than both.
