    Default Stripper transportation is lucrative

I'm a waitress, and yesterday one of my regulars, D, came in. Yesterday, I found out that he makes a pretty lucrative living transporting strippers to and from work, $50/per one-way trip. That's cheaper than a cab, as Houston is extremely spread out. He does it for girls who have lost their licenses to DWIs or don't want to risk getting followed home. He admits that he's mad becuase his seats are starting to resemble swiss cheese from cigarette burns. I told him to buy a minivan for work purposes, and he wondered why he hadn't thought of that first.

Does anyone else know anyone who offers this kind of services? I was really impressed.

On an unrelated topic, D also gave me a pretty good tip too in gratitude for helping him see what a jealous bitch his date was. You see, I came to the table and joked around while serving their stuff. Exercising common courtesy, I didn't flirt with him or belittle his date in any way. Despite my efforts to include his lady, she started getting irrationally jealous. According to D, she started pulling the, "You like her more than me. You think that she's prettier, smarter, etc, than me, don't you?" Keep in mind that this was their first date. D was immediately disgusted by her overt jealousy and raging insecurity, and told her to take a hike. After she left in a huff, D came up to me and slipped me an extra tip. According to him, I helped prevent a ton of drama. I feel used, hehe.

Damn, $50 for one-way transportation? I'm in the wrong business!

I can put 4 strippers in my car. I can make $200. Whoo-hoo!

Yep. There was a guy in PA who would drive Pittsburgh strippers to the WV clubs. I think it was $80 round trip. He got into it while he was dating a stripper.

Man, might be time to finally break down and buy a car.

I could advertise on SW and have it paid off in no time!

It's not uncommon, in the UK at least. Dancers get lifts from a variety of guys. There are a variety of motives for the guy.

    (a) Besotted with dancer and gives her lift for free in the hopes of becoming an OTC friend or bf.

    (b) Genuine friend with the dancer and gives her lift because it suits the pair of them. No payment usually changes hands: it's inappropriate if friendship is involved.

    (c) Does it for commerical reasons - in the UK it might be $60 - $80 for a round trip. If you can fit in 2 - 3 trips per day, it can be a useful earner.

Put me in the (b) category - suits me and the three dancers concened - we've known each other outside of work for 6 - 7 years now.

I could make significant money if I opted for (c) and gave lifts to dancers other than the ones I'm friendly with. I'm not interested in doing so because I have no great interest in spending 5 - 6 nights a week driving to or waiting in strip venues.

Yeah he must be rolling in the profit! In all honesty, $50 really isn't that cheap, even with our sky-high gas prices these days. It costed me $40 round-trip to drive 3-4hrs(round-trip) from the Philly suburbs to Atlantic City. Granted this was back in 2006 when gas prices were a little cheaper, but this $40 round-trip amount includes a seemingly exorbitant amount of turnpike tolls + parking fee to park in the casino parking garage.

If anything, this just shows yet another one of the high costs that you suffer if you either get a DWI or if you can't afford a car(i.e., the "poverty tax" as described in Barbara Ehrenreich's book Nickel and Dimed). And $50 is cheaper than the cabs? Wow. Just wow.

Now I agree that D's date was over-the-top jealous, but at the same time, it makes me wonder what kind of guy would take a girl to a strip club for a date, especially a first date. I mean, I can understand if they've been together for a while and the girl is bi and/or genuinely interested in seeing a strip club, but for a first date? You're supposed to spend a first date getting to know each other better, NOT get distracted by strippers. If it was the date's idea to go to a strip club maybe I can understand that, but from the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like it was her suggestion in the least. Come on, it's the first date and this guy quickly wants to go visit the waitresses, bartenders, and strippers that he's been pining at, dropping money on, and making goo-goo eyes at for who knows how long. I'd feel left out too if I were D's date(although I certainly wouldn't let it show; I probably woulda been polite to the strip club employees and then simply not call back the guy afterwards). I can't really 100% blame her for feeling a tad bit displaced.

There are lots of pro dancer drivers in Vancouver and Winnipeg (and prob other places too); I don't know of one who's 'well off'.

It's a steady job in Winnipeg, probably averages out to $15/hr after expenses. They do lots of $10 trips, a few an hour. In Van it's (much) less steady, through the fares are in the market of $20-40 each way.

Oh, I had a driver in Toronto too...he was $10 or $15 each way. He was also obviously not badly off, but not well off.

Not the road to riches, but a good job for some I'm sure.

    Feature costumes for sale!

I'm a retired stripper, and Houston clubs are so dirty that I don't even want to waitress in them. I've been to Treasures and Sugars, and with all you put up with, you might as well be a stripper. I work at a seafood restaurant and bar. It's okay, D's not a slimeball! He took her out for crabcakes and beer rather than titties and beer.
