Intro to Feature Dancing, any pros at this?

    Hey everybody!

I have done a ton of research on feature dancing and I'm wondering how legit these "Learn how to be a feature dancer" schools are? I know theres one in Florida. Has anyone gone and feel it was beneficial? I have talked to someone from Lykenson (sp?) Agency but there again, not sure if it's worth it to pursue.

Is feature dancing really that much BETTER then house dancing? I mean from all I've read, everyone has mixed reviews. I figured I'd ask you guys because I know there are a ton of professionals on this site and maybe you have advice on this topic.

I have always thought this is definately something I want to pursue, now I'm wondering if staying a house dancer is a better choice?

Any input, advice, thoughts, experience to share? Thanks so much

    Search 'featuring' on SW.

Also Lykens has the best 'feature school' IMO. Jada Deville is one of the greatest entertainers in the US and shes the one that 'takes you under her wing'. At least she used to.

Your best bet though if you have a web cam is to take classes from Alena Downs at shes a retired feature and one of the best out there and she will teach you how to feature. Shes the one who taught me and im drowning in bookings now because of all I learned from her. Seriously im booked solid until the end of the summer and have clubs and agencies in the US wanting to book me.

Featuring has its pros and cons. It really just depends what you want out of the business.

Thanks for all your info! Ok, I feel better about the whole Lykens thing. I guess I will definately keep in contact with them. I might try the webcam class type deal to see if that would work for me. Is there an agency out there that finds features not only club jobs but for example, magazine work or photo shoot type stuff? I guess I'm trying to find both from the same agent. Who knows? Ok, i searched for featuring on SW and it did pull up threads but alot of them were from years ago, so I figured maybe that info would not be the most current. I will read those just to see. Must be awesome to be booked all the way through the summer! I would love to hear more about your experience with becoming a feature and how you stay so busy with bookings. I hope to be there to someday in the near future.

    Again, thanks for your info!

I'm think I've posted stuff about my featuring in the past couple months, so I'm not gonna repeat all of it, but I'll say this...featuring is a labor of love. I love my job more than anything in the world, but it really is a trade-off for other things. I'm working 45+ weeks a year and the only thing that really bugs me is living in hotels and being alone 24/7 if I'm not at work.

The money is good, not as good as it was in the 90's, but I'm not complaining about what I get. I do porn though, and sadly that makes a difference sometimes.

Hey girl at least you make it home more then I do! LoL

I havn't had a week off since the beginning of October!!!!!!!

Im lost in a pile of bookings and right now apparently im supposed to be in three different cities next week all at the same time. I don't know what to do with myself! *pulls hair out of head*

But Ginger is ya get lonely i'll come give ya company

Seriously though featuring is a labour of love. I love it, really I do... but it gets so tiring and lonely. You become married to your laptop and your vibrator.

I couldn't help but chuckle at the thread title's 'down-low' double entendre ! Yes indeed there are lots of 'PRO's' who are also out there featuring these days.

If I remember correctly you havent started stripping yet...is that right? If so...you wont really be able to feature. In the US its next to impossible to get booked with NO stripping experience. And the girls that get booked regularly do XXX porn. If you only do magazines, its hard to get bookings in the US.

Plus...you do the magazines, porn, whatever...build a bit of a name..THEN start getting booked out as a feature. Otherwise...why would they hire you? Who would come see a chick they've never heard of that has no credits to her name? That wouldnt be a draw for the club and thus, worth your fee.

You also have to factor in the up front costs of training, costumes, props, etc....etc...etc....none of which are cheap.Plus the hours of rehearsal to have enough shows for a booking(most girls I know have at least 10 choreographed shows to choose from, nurse, military,cheerleader,etc.....if you do a 3 day, 4 show a day booking, you dont want to repeat shows)

I've thought about featuring now that I have a crapload of magazines and movies under my belt....but I'm too freaking old and broken to be traveling that much anymore!

Thanks for all the input. I was a dancer a few years ago (about 4) and I'm just starting back in. So, as far as that goes, yeah, I'm a newbie again. I'm gonna take your advice and keep trying to get magazine work and adult vids first. I have been in adult modeling for about a year now but I'm still trying to get published and find jobs that will create more of a name for myself. I appreciate everyones comments, it really helped me prioritize things. I am going to keep in touch with Ken at Lykens Entertainment so that when I'm ready hopefully I can work with them.

    Thanks again everybody!

^^If you're gonna do porn or try to get published the easiest way it is to get an agent, usually one in LA unless you want to just work in FL. They can get you work in mags and movies fairly easily most of the time. There are a couple sites where there are lists of agencies that you can pick from.

I know that my rate from when I started doing porn to now has gone up a lot in little over a year, but I've done almost 100 movies and 20 magazines.
