    Default Dancing in Alaska?

Someone told me Alaska is good because of the large male population there. I've never been or worked there. Is it worth going there for a working vacation? Where are the good clubs?

I'm amazed at the voracity with which strippers continue to pass around this OUTDATED rumor. LOL

Generally speaking Alaska is no more profitable for strippers than anywhere else. It might be worth travelling there in summer, depending on where you're coming from, your travel arrangements (ie, expenses) and whether you can handle the hustle and contact. Oh and whether there are a truckload of other girls who heard about how great it is and flocked there - it's the kind of place where 2 extra girls can mean the difference between everyone making great money, and the profit not being worth the travel expense...

I would say: Not worth it for a work trip. A hella great place to visit though.

I worked there from Mid-July to early December about 6-7 years ago, and what you make there is no different or better than working in the lower 48 states.

And the clubs have more dancers now than they did then.

B- you left out the most important part of dispelling the rumor...the money isn't to be made off the locals.

LOL no shit! Maybe there are a lot more men than women living in AK, but the men aren't spending their money on strippers. The money in AK is almost entirely made off tourists who only show up for a couple weeks in summer. And there simply aren't that many of those.

I danced at the Bush Company a couple of years ago during the summertime. I agree that the money is not any better than anywhere else for the most part. From what I saw the club could have used more girls since quite a few of them were in their forties but hot. And most of those dancers had worked there for years. The clientelle is great. Out of town guys in town for sportfishing. I made good money(800-1000) but I was also working like 8 to 10 hours a night. No extras were expected at the Bush Company whatsoever. On the upside, the 21 and over clubs are prob busier since the 18and over clubs now no longer allow for grinding lap dances according to alaska law. I do recommend it for the beauty of the state but a dancer going there expecting fortunes beyond their homestate would be misdirected. Another problem is if you do go there in the summertime make sure you have your accomodations arranged because it can be expensive in the summertime otherwise.

Most of those people live in Alaska year round....which is why they don't have money. They are unemployed half the year!

And the ones who don't live there year round aren't spending in the clubs because they are either too busy working or trying to actually take money home instead of blow it on strippers.

And let's not get excited about the 800-1000 per night above poster mentioned. That's not gonna be every night - trust me I know - and you have to take travel expenses out of that. After all said and done, it's basically not gonna be any better than (and in some cases not even as good) what you're making at home.

The "fantastic money in AK because of the high male-female ratio" story is just Stripper Myth Number 4862.

I think it's male customers perpetuating this myth. I've never had a single stripper tell me that there was killer money in Alaska, but I've had plenty of customers tell me I should go there. My bet is they were there, saw how expensive lapdances were and how comparatively high the mileage was (it's always sleazy guys in low-mileage areas who spin this stuff), and assumed that all the girls in Alaska are just swimming in thousands of dollars every night.

And we all know the customers are the REAL experts on this business.

^I think you're mostly right. Guys never know WTF they're talking about when it comes to actually working a club. But they sure do run their mouths alot

Also the laps in MOST Alaska clubs are no more expensive than anywhere else. I think it's just that most dudes who go there are from places with cheap dances and/or low contact, so their opinions are way skewed. And yes the mileage is high, so they of course assume all the girls are making boatloads, even if there are actually fewer customers than dancers in the club

I know I told ONE customer in Phoenix I was going to Alaska to work, and he apparently went running his mouth saying I was going to make a fortune. LOL

Bahaha, well that's YOU! But yeah, I love how customers always think that mileage = money.

When I worked at the Bush Company about 3 years ago during the summer months the mileage was low. I really felt as though I was dancing in air dance Oregon. I did not grind and customers did not touch me. There was nothing creepy about it all all. I still made alright money. I really did make between 800 and 1000 for an 8-10 hour shift. It is possible that during the slow winter months the club allows for more mileage. I do know that lap-dancing in Anchorage is not permissible any longer at the 18 and over clubs. I would not recommend the club for someone seeking their fortunes. I did have a bad experience their getting my purse stolen but that was my own fault.

Wild horses couldn't drag me there. Cerously.

Damn, this information is disappointing. In the next year or two, I was planning on traveling the us and having dancing pay for the trips and Alaska was going to be a place that I wanted to try for like a month but if I can't even make enough for hotels and expenses......

you would pay for your trip dancing, but you'd definitely need to go in the summer. I think the point of this thread is not that you're going to strike gold there. That's a stripper myth, kinda like the stages in Las Vegas are paved in $100 bills. But Alaska, like Las Vegas, has money, but it's not big deal it's made out to be.

It's funny that these rumors are always by people that don't work there. If there was a lot of money to be made somewhere, you know nobody's talking about it unless you have a good friend there.

And this is from someone who actually worked there, but I met my boyfriend on my alaska trip, so it's all good.

The money here is okay. It is not GRATE. It is not as awful as I should be telling you it is though....hahaha. NO THERES NO MONEY HERE STAY AWAY!! Honestly we are in a recession but times of economic depression are actually when people will be more interested in entertainment. There are off nights but there are also times when it exceeds everyone's expectations.

There is not much variety in clubs. There are like five strip clubs in this state. Be prepared for a hard hustle and some crazy ass bitches. (like me!!! LOL) Come at the end of the summer, July-August, even into September. Play it safe, don't do parties, etc. Motels suck, cabs suck... rent a room for a month ($425-$600) and rent a car if you can. Bring a friend, even if they aren't a dancer. Watch each other's back. It may not get dark, but it still gets dangerous. Really dangerous. I love Alaska, it is my home, but it is a pretty extreme place. Our violent crime rate is out of control.

I don't know anything about Fairbanks clubs, except that they could always use new blood, or Goodtime Charlie's in Soldotna, except that it's owned by the state (!?)

Anchorage Club Rundown From Anelia's POV:

Bush Company - 21+. Nice bar. Strong drinks. Nude stage & dances, medium contact. There's not a lot of grinding/extras going on. Expect to work lots of hours and go butt nekid and quite possibly rake in cash at the right time of year. Dances are $20-$25, no VIP. My best description of the Bush would have to be, it is kind of like walking into a big red country-western vagina. A vagina guarded by huge ass Samoan dudes. Don't let the doormen scare you, they're mean to EVERYONE. (Even if you're famous!) Located by the airport, so you get lots of travelers.

Fantasies - 18+ strip club downstairs with a non-strip 21+ bar upstairs called Elixir. Nice place, recently remodeled. They have legal troubles though...might be closing down soon. Lost a lot of money recently due to military bans, lapdance laws, etc. Too bad. This was the first "real" strip club I ever went to in my life. (The Lusty Lady in downtown Seattle doesn't count). Dances $20-$25, I don't know if they go fully nude anymore....what with legal troubles. Downtown, right next door to....

Showboat - Revived 18+ club, never been there but I heard it was slow and not so good. Fully nude. I don't know anything about the dances, I think they have a VIP though.

Crazy Horse - 21+ POKER BAR (and also titties). Crazy Horse is world famous - FOR POKER! Lots of WORLD TOURNAMENT POKER! Lots of regulars who will ignore the shit out of you four nights a week, for poker! Topless dances, nude stage if you want. $20 TD, $60 VIP which is an open couch lounge. Customers here expect a lot for a little. Stick to the upstairs dressing room. Kinda dirty, bring purell. It's on the edge of downtown, in a bad neighborhood.

PJ's - 21+. They say it's where dancers go to die. What poker is to Crazy Horse, darts is to PJ's. I've never been there... I think it is in Spenard, heh. Spenard sucks.

If anyone comes here to work this summer, PM me! I will prob. be working in Anchorage on and off... I can't promise anything but I know where to get dancer gear and stuff... I think SWers need a secret hand signal, like the KGB, so we can know each other without having to nerd out in front of everybody. :

My ex-roommate went on a trip to there this summer. She worked at a couple of clubs while she was there, came back, and decided to MOVE THERE. No kidding. She loved it, but from what she said, the money was about the same as back home. She loved the landscape, though, and I think that's what really prompted her move.

This is the reality of dancing. No matter where you go, the money is about the same.

Alaska is still the United States. It doesn't matter who the dancer is, everyone will have some under $100 nights after tip outs, and everyone will have some $300+ nights, maybe even some $500+ ones. And everyone gets a paycheck every 2 weeks, which if you work fulltime equals about $400-$500 total for the month. I worked mostly at Bush Co and for a short time at Crazy Horse.

There are girls there who have regulars just like in the lower 48 too. crazy horse is a better regulars club. The several nights a month that the North slope oil workers come to town on their way home are good nights. But when they fly back in on their way back to work, they don't come to the clubs.

But just like everywhere else, stricter drinking and lap dance laws have tightened up the looser flowing money of the early to mid-nineties. Alaska has made happy hours illegal as they feel they have a drinking problem, and clubs are required to monitor how many drinks they serve a customer. They won't serve a person who seems to have had too many and they may cut you off after 2 drinks.

Motel 6 and Super 8 charge about $120-$150 a night for a room in the summer, and it drops down to about $60 in the winter. So given that fact alone, it really isn't worth going up there.

You can certainly make enough to cover travel expenses in AK. But YES the mileage is high. I was there this last summer. It was damn well not an airdance place, and I was there during peak season, so I'd have to assume it can be much worse in the slow, dark, cold, deadass winter.

The point we're making here is that you're not going to go there and find your fortune. Not gonna strike gold. If you're wanting to travel there for profit, it's most likely not gonna be worth it.

If you're just wanting to go there and SEE the place, and make enough money to pay for the trip, that is most certainly doable.
