    Default attention DJs!!

sorry if this has been covered before i cant be bothered scrolling thru the many many threads!!
How much do u generally charge to mix a cd?? im reletivly new to showgirling and have a cd i love to dance to but it has a few seconds of silence between each song which i think sounds really unprofessional and amateur.
Any DJs on the sunny coast of Queensland that could help me out??
P.s hope this is the right forum for this post!!

I'm honestly trying not to sound like a smart ass, but there's no other way I can word this... Most DJs can work around that 2 second silence between each song by talking over it and hitting the "next track" button.

Or is this a continuous play CD with all the music on one track?

As for charging for mixing, I stopped doing it altogether. Partly because I might be able to download the tracks at work. The lesser reason is that the RIAA is a bunch of money grubbing nitwit assholes that'll do anything to make sure the record companies make 6 times as much as the artists who actually make the music, and will sue you for even thinking about burning or copying CDs, even though they themselves allowed for the technology to be created, and the only way I'll be happy is if the RIAA and all the record companies go down in flames and die die die...

    Jesus, I need a coke.

Scotty, I think she's talking about doing a showgirl set where she has to maybe put her own CD in and just let it play? Do you not have a DJ where you work, Jayde?

If you are burning in iTunes, you can set the delay between tracks to 0. For mixing tracks into each other on a CD, I'm not sure. If I had to do it right now, for some crazy reason, I would just use Audacity and blend them all together into a continuous track.

I did not consider that as a possibility either, but I really wasn't trying to sound like a smart ass, even though I know it came off that way.

Also, I just took for granted that she had a DJ, only because DJ is mention in the title of this thread, and I ought to know that even if that were the case, not all DJs are clever enough to talk over moments of silence in a dancer's set (just ask Cally how I felt about the "DJ" they had when I visited her in Canada, I lost tooth enamel from so much anger grinding...)

I--and possibly other DJs on these boards--have access to an editing program. If you want the songs to be on one continuous track. Trouble is, my computer geekdom is limited to only video games, so I don't exactly know how you'd get the data on the CD to me (I know, I should be ashamed). And it doesn't help that I'm not in Queensland, either. Far from it. Very very far. So I'm of little use here....

    I think I'll hide.

    Yeah. That seems wise.

    Hi,

This is very easy to do, i mix 3 songs together with sound forge or acid pro so that i can leave the booth if i need to and dancers can also use these for strip-o-grams. Unfortuately I live in New Zealand so I cant help you out. Someone that knows what they're doing could whip it up in about 10 mins so dont let them charge you much.
    Good luck

If you're using NERO Express as your burn program.. which I use for just about everything.. you can eeeeeeasily do this right within the "audio CD" burn wizard.. (since it sounds like you're dealing with wanting an audio cd you can just drop into any player and hit play.. not an mp3 based end product)

    1) just add the tracks you want to burn..
    2) toggle "No pause between tracks" to on..
    3) on each track after #1, hit the little properties button and toggle on "Cross fade with previous track" and set it to say, 2 seconds probably..
    4) burn!

No fuss, no muss.. should create a nice, smoothly transitioned disc.

She's a private showgirl. Some girls here pay a person to make their CDs for them and some just burn a bunch of songs on a CD. Personall I edit them myselves.
