I'm suffering from serious itchy feet. What was your favourite holiday, what made it special? What did you do that you wouldn't normally do?

I'm drinking Malibu and pineapple and pretending I'm back in a bar called Wax on the beach in Mui Ne, Vietnam. Or a full moon party in Ko Pan Ngan (sp). Or strutting my stuff in Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong.

At the moment I even miss sitting in airports with that nervous anticipation of the journey ahead, or returning home with stories to tell.

Ah. I even got my backback out of my cupboard before just to smell it. (FYI it smells pretty rank).

I want to go to India next. I'm trying not to hold my horror three day New Delhi experience against a whole nation. Damn uni! I want to take off now!

A couple of years ago my 2 of my best friends won a holiday to Cypress. They found out that they had won sorta at the lsat minute so jetted off without telling anyone, planning to make the calls when they arrived. Once they got there they realised that their accomodation wasn't the 2 bed apartment that they expected but a four bedroom private villa with 2 bathrooms, BBQ, private pool, the lot! So I get a phone call
Friend - Guess where I am!
    Me - Er, I don't know, Starbucks?
    Friend - No...Cypress!
    Me - WTF???
Friend - (Explains the situation,) So get on the next plane and get your ass out here, we're livin in paradise!!

So me and my other best friend pack a bag, drive to the airport, and get on the next plane to Cypress. The flight only cost us £100 and the holiday we had we the best ever. The four of us are like sisters but hadn't been together all four of us for aaaages. We just spent the whole week by the pool, skinny dipping, drinking cocktails, playing cards, gossiping and getting all nice and tanned. One of us brought the DVD box set of Sex and the City so most evenings were spent getting drunk, weeping over sex and the city and arguing over which of the four of us was which character. I actually feel a bit sad thinking about that holiday coz it was so good. Don't think I'm gonna get a holiday this year as spending so much on the boobies

When I was 15 or 16, it was Thanksgiving time. My mom hardly had any money, and she had to work all day. We had to walk into her work (about 2 miles away) and we bought stuffing at cumberland farms. I stayed at her work. One of the waitresses there that she was friends with invited us to have Thanksgiving with her and her daughter that I had gone to school with after we all got out. My mom can be kind of stubborn and has a lot of pride. She felt like it was a handout. Between myself wanting to do something, and Dottie saying, "look, we have a (however many lb turkey) thats way too much for the 2 of us" she decided to go.

It was my mom, her friend, the girl I had gone to school with, and one of the bus boys that was from somewhere in Europe. We had a great Thanksgiving dinner. We drank wine. We played games. It was just really wonderful and nice, especially since we had expected to walk home and have instant stuffing together. And I made one of my best friends that night also.

I've never been to the far east, and it sounds like that is your favorite places to travel, but...

French Polynesia is awesome. I was on Tahiti and Moorea, and it was so wonderful. Get an over-water bungalow. If you are on land the roosters will have you up at 3:30am every morning.

I was recovering from a bad case of the flu when I went, and there was something about being on Moorea that had me feeling better in about 24 hours. The rest of my trip was awesome!

I think the OP meant a good vacation trip.

But that sounds like an awesome Thanksgiving, to be sure.
