    Default NYC/NJ "stripper den"?

I know of a lot of dancers that are roommates with other dancers. Are there any ladies from NY/NJ that currently do this or have done it in the past? I'm very curious about doing this myself. Or should I just live alone. I planned on moving to NJ and working in NY. (The location in NJ is only 30 mins from NYC)

Nj is pretty expensive and the single apartments tend to be really small, depending on where, so a lot of people have roomies in general. I live with people from school (who I mostly hate!) as I really don't work with anyone it would make sense to live with. I wish there was stripperroomies.com.

LOL. Me too Roseleigh. Thanks for the 411 on Jersey. I've never lived there before and have absolutely no clue as to the neighborhoods etc. I was looking at apts. in East Orange. They had one bedrooms for really cheap with all utilites included and it made me suspicious that it must be a really bad area.

Good advice. Thanks! Yeah, I lived in Flatbush Brooklyn for 20 years, so I'd be okay with semi-hood; but definately not Newark hood. LOL

Yeah, Newark. Fun. One of my housemates was telling me how she went to Newark for a party (she's from FL and had no idea) in her swank white SUV with out of state plates and the police stopped her at the end of the street and sent her home. LOL

Yeah, be careful of the super cheap places... its true they say you get what you pay for. I lived in Ridgewood ($$$ but amaziiiiing town) and still had a nice commute to work. (I would work an hour away so it wasnt too far)

Do you have any other towns you are interested in?

Heh heh---EO IS Newark hood....there are *no* nice or tolerable neighborhoods. Try looking hard in Bloomfield--I met one kid that lived on the 3rd floor somewheres and his rent was like 6 or 7--that's the best you can hope for methinks! Also try Bellville.

I too want to see some stripper classifieds! I'll never live in Jersey again, (I'm from Montclair & Bloomfield) the conclusion I came to just the other day, but I'm pretty sure I'm planning a move to Brooklyn in the next year. Hard to meet strangers in ads and tell them what you do. Ugh.

I used to commute to NY as well---it is super awful. Either driving my car in or driving to Harrison to take the PATH in, it is exhausting, dangerous (police, weather) and there were way too many parking tickets and coming home at 6-7am nights than I'd like to remember.

I'm just curious what appeals to you about Jersey if you are not gonna work in Jersey (I feel you tho, wanting to try somewhere new after you lived in ny) --I'll tell ya right now, it ain't quiet, and the commute is rough.

I have friends in Clifton, Belleville and Hackensack. Seems to be better.

Thats not true...East Orange is having a bit of a Renaissance. If you live in the part towards Bloomfield it is really quiet but I mean now-a-days what areas are really nice. I do believe that you should live alone though....roommates are a big hassle. Dont want yourself assed out when it comes it comes to rent on the 1st.

LOL i live in Newark and I love my neighbors and neighborhood. Every city has its good and bad areas. I live in the beautiful Weequahic section and its quiet over here...neighbors are nice and my car is parked safely outside. Depends on what part of Newark...just like depends on what part of Brooklyn you live in.

so true about the cities, each has its good and bad neighborhods. in the interest of saving money and being able to live in a better neighborhood, i'd suggest going with the romie option. if you make a 6 month agreement, or even month to month, then you can always get your own place later. and there's no need to tell them exactly what you do, just let them know up front about the hours you keep so that if they have a problem with it, you won't find out when its too late.

See that was my biggest concern, my car. LOL. (Sad, I know) And you are soooo right about that bcuz I loved living in Flatbush, but Bronwsville, I'd never step foot in. I do have a couple of male friends in E.O. so they could keep an eye out for me. And I guess I'd have you Jersey ladies around if I got lonely.

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to tell ANYONE exactly what I plan on doing for a living. My family would flip and I'm afraid my friends will look at me differently. But I need the money and I don't feel that it's degrading so for me, it's a great option. I think I'll start at a bikini club until I become comfortable with my dancing, the hustle etc. (I seriously am very clumsy and goofy when I dance and it makes me self-concious, which makes me look worse.)

Jersey is mainly bikini unless its nude and then there is no liquor. I myself started off in a "hood bar". I like it, the people are nice and im learning how to hustle hard and come with snappy comebacks for assholes. Rejection is not a thing to me anymore and I know now...if one person doesnt like me the next one will or wont. Ill still make my money, Clean. So, if you need help with a club let PM and let me know. I work at a bar where you dont have to audition and you just tip in...but its a good starter...

That would be perfect! Thanks! I will definately try to start as soon as I move to NJ. (Probably next month)
