Default Where would you work? A conundrum.

I'm in a rut and I might need a change. I'm having an intense debate in my head about what to do, so I figured I'd tap upon the wisdom of stripper web.

I currently work at Club #1. I just did my audition at Club #2, and was hired for the night shift. I have to go get my permit ($350) to work there, so I can't just pick up and go. It's an investment.

    Let's compare.

    Club #1
    Nude
    Amenities:
A little bit of a dive bar. Tables and chairs on the main floor are like pizza parlor chairs. Tables at the bar are stools, and there's a few plush chairs for the people lucky enough to get them. VIP rooms are kind of lame, just semi private small rooms with chairs and couches. The food is like pool hall food - wings, chicken fingers, etc. It has a little bit of a dingy, dirty look. On weekends, there is a haze of cigarette smoke in the air.
Stages: 4 stages. Main is a long runway with a pole. There are 2 side stages, also with poles. One stage is a bartop.
Money: Table dances are $10. You can get as much as $250 a half hour for VIP, $500 an hour. Unless you're getting VIPs, it's back breaking work to make money. Every great once in a while you can get $300/$600. The shitty thing is that if a guy puts it on his card, they charge 15% both ways, so for a guy to give me $500 in funny money, he pays $575, and I get $425. It's 133.35% of the cost. 10% of what you make goes to the DJ (and he only keeps half of that), so you can get $380 for an hour after all is said and done - literally 2/3 of what the guy spent (not including drinks, tips to the waitress, funny money girl, and floor guy). Sometimes, though, the guy pays $500 cash, so you're walking with $450. More often when they have cash, we give them a discount so it's $200/$400. Everybody has their hand out to get tipped, and if the guy doesn't do it, it's often expected that you should. If the bill from VIP (including the cost for MY time) is $700, the waitress writes up a statement with all the expenses, and tells the guy that the suggested tip is 20% - $140 for bringing drinks! This turns off a lot of guys. I hate the 15% both ways thing, the passive aggressive floormen who make VIP unpleasant if you don't MAKE the guy tip them, the waitresses who expect to make 20% of the bill when I'm only making 2/3 of what I could be. Because we are allowed medium contact, you have the chance to keep the guy back there for a long time, but you're getting groped the whole time, pushing away hands. Girls are getting dirtier by the day.
Contact: Table dances are supposed to be no contact, but they are light contact. VIP is also supposed to be no contact, but since I started the club has gotten more risque. Girls who the bouncers like leave them alone in VIP and let them grind, get their tits grabbed, etc, and they watch the girls they don't favor (IE: the ones who don't get them tipped $20/$40) like hawks. The guys get their money's worth in VIP with one of the higher contact girls.
Tip out: $40 if you're on the floor by 8, $50 by 8:30, $60 by 9, and $90 after 9. 10% to the DJ. $10 to the housemom ($20 if you want her to like you).
Crowd: White collar on weekdays, more of a young party crowd on weekends. The girls who make money on weekends are girls who can do pole tricks, dance to hip hop and can shake their asses (not me).
Location: Near downtown, right off the highway, but kind of out of the way unless someone tells you about the club.
Girls: Mostly pretty hot girls, with a few "Huh? She works here?" kind of girls.
Biggest downfalls: Higher contact than I like is becoming the norm. The crowd is very hip hop and young on the weekends, which I have never and will never fit into. Open until 4 AM, by which time I am exhausted. Weeknights are hit or miss as far as money goes - you must get a VIP to make money. Greedy staff. Grungey facility. Small locker room.
Perks: I know everyone there and have a good hustle buddy.

    Club #2
    Nude
    Amenities:
Four star restuarant. Great looking, "classy" place. Good ventilation, doesn't smell like smoke. VIP rooms are semi private and look like a nice hotel lounge.
Stages: 3 stages, 4 girls on each at any given time. No poles, just more swaying back and forth looking hot. You have to be tipped $5 to go topless, $10 to go nude.
Money: $10 strictly no contact table dances, $150/$300 for VIP, also strictly no contact. You keep all of your funny money, and the guy gets charged 10%.
Contact: Strictly NO CONTACT during dances.
Tip out: No tip out to the house, a maximum of $25 to the DJ, $10 to the housemom.
Crowd: White collar all week, young crowd added in on the weekends.
Location: In the heart of downtown, near major business headquarters, law firms, hospitals, and convention halls.
Girls: Nearly all are knockouts or above average.
Biggest downfalls: Switching to a new club is scary, especially when I have so much invested in club #1. I have to cover my tattoos. VIP is slightly less, but word is it's easier to be back there nearly all night (I'd rather make slightly less per hour for no contact). Not open on Sundays.
Perks: Closes at 3! Huge gorgeous locker room where I can take a shower while they clear out the club after closing. White collar clientelle interested in companionship and conversation (which I exceed at). Little emphasis on actual dancing (which I suck at).

I'm leaning towards club #2 but I am attached to #1.

GIVE ME YOUR WISDOM, YOU BEAUTIFUL NAKED GENIUS LADIES.

I work in a club like your #1, but have also worked in a club like your #2. I'm very good at conversation and getting guys to believe that they are in love with me and want to spend all their time with me. I've never learned flashy pole tricks and in the past, have bought out of going on stage at all. I would love to work at a club like your club #2, but I'm in a commited relationship and am not willing to move. But if I could, I'd jump at the chance to play to my strengths.

If you aren't comfortable with the level of contact and being shaken down by everyone at club #1, go to club #2. Can yo ucome back and work club #1 occasionally if you miss it?

Personally I would LEAP into club #2 and I love dancing on stage.

Club 2. Are you out of your mind? Why would you ever think of staying at Club 1? I wouldn't even go there as a customer.

See, but I know the downfalls of Club 1. I don't know the downfalls of club 2 yet. There could be just as much greed and favoritism as 1.

Club 1 is is reputed to be better money, but who knows?

1 and 2 are rivals, both require schedules, and I'm afraid if I switch I won't be welcome back if 2 doesn't work out.

This is a no brainer: Club #2!!

Viola-I've always been under the impression from your posts that you are the "type" for a club like club #2, and I guess I already assumed you worked somewhere classy like that. Switch clubs today! You sound way too good for club #1.

I can totally relate here. This is the exact reason why I chose to return to one of my old clubs in SF instead of trying out a club or two in Sacramento after maternity leave. At least you know the politics and BS that are going down at club #1.

If Club 2 is the club i think it is (I have friends that work there), it is AWESOME!

It sounds like you're craving a more upscale club so I say go for it, the $350 is license is no big deal.

Also, I think Club 1 will eventually let you back if you don't like it, they just like to scare you.

Go for it! Taking (smart) risks is how we succeed in life. Get out of that rut and ROCK it girl!

    BTW
There is greed and favoritism at almost every club

Wow, if a Club 2 existed in my town I would be there in a heartbeat. Do you have to quit Club 1 first? Can't you at least try it out and see what the earnings potential/favoritism system is like before you commit?

I would go for club number 2. Its scary switching to a new club but I bet once you get the hustle down you'll make money hand over fist. Best of it is... no contact!!! Hell ya id be all over club number 2 and I love dive bars lol.

Good luck with whatever you decide to go for

I know both clubs. You're a #2 kind of girl. From all of your posts, and from your attitude, your hustle is perfect for that club. It also sounds like you just need a breath of fresh air, and would benefit from change regardless. Club #2!! Club #2!! I think it's possible to out-grow a club, or be OVER IT!! You're over it. Move on and make lots of money.

My HUGEST regret re: stripping is that I never worked up the nerve to go to an upscale club (like Club 2 sounds like...) I wasted years working in dives just to be a "big fish in a little pond." Pretty dumb.

The hidden advantage to switching to 2 is having to compete with more upscale girls will push you to do your best not only at work but to get more out of your dancing income.

It seems pretty unanimous. Club 2, ftw! Just dance there a few nights and see if you like it. You don't have to go back if you don't.

I was trapped at a shitty little dive bar for almost a year. It gave me a good amount of time to learn how to dance well, and to get used to working several nights a week. Once I made the switch to a more upscale club, I did great. The only thing holding me back was fear.

Hey girl. I haven't talked to you in forever. And now I will tell you something. *drums*

Club 1 = More money. For me (as well as for you), it was very easy to come by. Even if I didn't get a VIP and danced all night, I had good money.

Club 2 = Less stress. Mgmt respects you. It's immaculate. You get off early enough to wake up before noon and you don't go home smelling like titty bar. Some girls have low self-esteem and give away a lot in VIP, but being a classy place, the club has a "no touch" air to it. Keeping your clothes on all night is an option. *However* the money is not nearly as much or consistent as Club 1. I have had 2 nights where I've walked with NOTHING. And then there were some "bad" nights. Shit. I've never, ever before in my history of stripping left with less than $xxx on a 6-hour shift. Earning $100/night every now and then is more common than I'd like. Either you sell 2 hours or go home hungry. Don't get me wrong. There are nights when you go home with a nice stack or two. It's just not every night.

I chose Club 2 over Club 1 because I felt safer. A guy grabbed my punani once, and he and his whole group of 10 got kicked out. Club 2 cares about its girls.

Club 2 has better quality customers. Not much asshole trash.

I do miss my earnings at Club 1, but I am such a wimp about contact. If a guy violates me, I want him kicked out. No one ever seemed to care that a finger poked my starfish. At Club 1, I was getting to the point where I was angry all the time. I felt like no one had my back. When I got home, I'd yell at my bf for having a penis.

Club 1 has more money. Club 2 has less contact. Decide which is more important to you.

(I often wonder if I made the right decision leaving Club 1. I ask myself, why wasn't I tough enough? I wish I were, but I'm not.)

    Hey C,

Good to hear from you. Yep. I'm not tough enough for it, either.

Last week I was in a room where a hustle buddy was grinding a guy and rubbing his dick through his pants. I left Florida because I don't want have to deal with that kind of thing.

I'd be happy to make $1000-$2000+ working 3-4 nights rather than $2000-$4000 in such a high contact, sleazy, corny environment. I don't need THAT MUCH money and tend to spend the rest when I'm miserable.

Catch you soon. See you at work.

seriously, i think you'd be happier at the cheetah.

how hard would it be to come back to your old club if the money isn't what you hoped?

That's more than doable, even during the slow seasons. Spring is historically very, very good because of all the conventions.

I left Club 1 because getting up at 3 pm and losing my sex drive began to be too much of a trade off. Club 2 is much easier on me.

That Club 3 opening up, I don't see it as a threat.

You can have it if what you want is to grind guys until they get off, get your tits groped, and not be able to sell a VIP because there are girls promising sexual favors (whether they're delivering on their promises or not isn't the issue, it's hard to get a VIP without at least lying or implying extras). 4 LITERAL travelling prostitutes were hired a few months back. They moved onto another city, but getting a VIP is becoming, ahem, competitive - as in who will do more for less.

I don't need money so badly that I would check my dignity at the door.

I deleted all mentions of where I work, btw.

I know girls probably go back and forth, so we'll see.

She's advertised quite loudly where she worked before. I thought it was pretty much common knowledge by now. And everyone in ATL knows exactly which clubs she's talking about from her OP in this thread - it's quite obvious.

Sorry VS, I was just being a smartass with the previous remark. I hear it's not so fabulous at Cheetah either - lotta BS politics make it hard to make money, AND I've heard there's quite a lot of extras going on in their VIPs, even more than Pony, with some girls, because their rooms are apparently more private and not monitored. I guess it's a case of "pick your poison".

I'd be somewhat careful about trying to go back and forth though. Seems that can bite you in the ass if you're not well-liked by housemoms, etc.

Yeah, there was no mystery there. Though I suppose if you're unfamiliar with Atlanta's clubs and any and all discussion of them here, there might be.

Switch clubs. You know you're going to want to check out the PP South when it opens anyway, so some hopping can't hurt.
