Default Phoenix/Tucson Clubs....where are all the custys?

Am I just dancing at the wrong places at the wrong times or are all the clubs slow right now? At the candy store I'll walk out with about 200 all from $5 table dances...if I go to VIP (which is only $10) I might leave with 300-350. This isn't terribly bad, as I've been to another club where 50 is the average for a 4-5hr shift. How are the topless phnx clubs right now?

The Arizona economy is based on real estate and tourism. Since the real estate market is tanking, you can cut out most local clients and ALL the out of state flippers who dropped oodles of cash from 04-06. That leaves tourists, which just began filtering back into town.

I just moved outta AZ, I can sympathise. Theres just too much working against the economy there right now:

    * 1 out of 3 dollars in AZ comes from real estate. Notice the over abundance of 'for sale' signs on homes, and vacant store fronts? The housing and real estate market has been in a bust for a year or so. Fewer commissions for realtors and brokers, more people facing forclosures, builders getting fewer contracts = fewer customers.

    * The US economy is declining now, yet inflation keeps rising. Higher costs of living = fewer customers.

    * Even tougher dui laws = fewer customers.

    * I don't know what it's like at the more upscale clubs there, but the mid-tier and divey clubs, at least in PHX, used to have tons of illegal alien patrons. 1/2 my customers were Mexicans who hardly spoke English. Ever since AZ passed the law which prohibits employers from hiring illegal aliens, those guys stopped coming in en masse, and probobly went back to Mexico. Fewer customers, period.

    * As disputable as this is, I personally think the smoking ban hurt business as well. A lot of once regular customers of my main club, all of whom were smokers, vanished overnight right after the ban took place. While the smoking ban also attracted non-smokers who previously shyed away from the club, I think PHX clubs (strip clubs and regular bars alike) lost more than they gained.

    * Lots of bored girls killing time by spending waaaay too much time with customers, for free. When guys see other guys not spending $, they tend to follow suit.

Theres one club I mainly danced at, but I was hired at 5 others for the sake of testing the waters/having a backup plan. I know that all 6 of them have been in a bad slump for the past 6 months or so, so no, it definately isn't just the Candy Store! Actually, having enough customers (or a few generous spenders) to take home 40 dances worth of $ per shift is good business for a small club right now. If you were at a $10.00 dance club that'd be $400, and I highly doubt the average (non-top tier) AZ girl averages that right now - unless she's a) are well established and has a fair # of good spending regulars keeping her afloat b) working double shifts or more or c) sad but true, doing 'extra' for that $.

As I've said on here several times before, this time last year I averaged $120-150 an hour doing $10.00 dances, but from May onward the $ just got worse and worse. The 2 weeks before I left were the absolute worst. One day I made $54.00, another $4.00, another $30.00, another $84.00 despite it being the clubs anniversary party and it being standing room only, etc. ........... pretty bad! And I know theres a lot of girls working double shifts and struggling to break $100.00 right now.

    Hang in there : ).

Not to veer too far off-course, but I doubt they went back to Mexico. I saw plenty of them hanging out next to Home Depot when I was there this month, just like always. As for those who are leaving or have left the state, I'm betting they're off to neighboring states, not back across the border.

Anyway, from what I could tell on this last trip to Phx, dancers there are hurting. Too many girls, customer counts continuing to decrease, customer spending continuing to tighten. Girls who were never strippers before and/or girls who left the biz (re)entering the market, increasing competition more and more. I heard over and over, every night I worked, that "it's been really tough" the last few months. I'd say if you're making 2-400 a shift in Phx right now you're probably doing pretty well. Be thankful and keep up the good work!

Absolutely right, and it's equally amazing to me when there are other custys sitting around waiting for these girls to come dance for them, yet they stay with their freeloading buds, song after song after song. You can even tip them on stage, smile and ask them to come see you for some dances. They smile back and say sure baby, and then they go back to their table of pals, or they disappear into the dressing room, never to be seen again.

It has unfortunately become more common for me to walk out of a club with significant LD budget still in my wallet, and I NEVER used to do that......

^Stupidity, and desperation breeds complacency. As long as I can walk in heels I'll NEVER be caught sitting on my ass ignoring customers. I might say I don't mind the lazy twats, but I think they hurt business because their poor attitudes and lack of stripper skills discourage guys from coming back and spending. Dipshits

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Ok, I've seen tons of girls (mainly very young, as in underage) sit around indulging non-spending bar 'customers' and other cheap losers w/ hours of free time, or huddling to themselves and gossiping, but to ignore a good custy?!??! NOW THATS DUMB. I'm sorry to hear this happens to you.

Another thing I've noticed hurting girls $ in AZ - female bartenders and cocktail girls becoming more of a competition since their $ is slowing down too. If I had a dime for every time a cocktail girl clung to the one spending customer in the room....

    *le sigh*

^^Oh yeah, why the hell are waitresses and vip hostesses allowed to be signed out at my club??

After this last trip, I am so glad I don't dance regularly in Phx anymore. I can't believe how much contact has gone up FOR LESS MONEY!!! It's not like girls are making more for doing more, they are making less for doing more!!

It's not just your club, everywhere is slow slow slow. Most of my friends worked their asses off over Superbowl just to save up some emergency cash so they don't have to stress about when it will be good again and if they'll be able to pay their bills. I hate to think what this summer will be like. I'd have a traveling plan if I were you.

That's what I'm thinking. Do you have any clubs you'd reccommend that I could look into?

Phx girls who entered the business in 2004-2006 DO NOT have the skills to be profitable in this economy.

I noticed the slowness in several clubs I visited in town last month.

But, it is also slow in other places too. It's like guys come out for a few days and you have a decent couple of nights, and then you go several nights where the customer count is down in half, and everyone only sells a handful of dances. My earnings to date this year are about 20% lower than this same time last year.

Well, to be fair I've only experienced this on a repeat basis in one Phoenix club, which is why I don't repeat there anymore. I can also say that several of my blue side brethren have had similar experiences at the same club. I'm also primarily a dayshift custy, and I think that when a club is less crowded, but inhabited with more solo fliers, there is a tendency for dancers to make the rounds less often, content to let guys sit and watch the stage unless they know them as a regular, or unless the custy specifically goes and chases them down for a dance. My earlier post may have come across as slightly incendiary, which wasn't intended. Sorry for the mini-rant, carry on!

Everyone everywhere is complaining about $ going downhill, hon. Theres no oasis where all the customers/$ is. And if there were, no wise dancer would disclose that for thousands of others to read these days. It would cause mass migrations to said area, resulting in an oversaturated market where no real $ would be left for anyone.

Buuuut, if you're serious and willing to relocate for dancing, perhaps move somewhere that isn't as affected by the negative economic trends. Also, if you're willing to live without the wild nightlife big cities provide, theres less competition in smaller towns, since theres fewer dancers, and fewer pasttimes for the men. Keep in mind that the big cities are where other city folk flee to first - you can't escape the 'competition' in them because it's already there 10 fold, or is just around the corner.

Look on stripclublist.com - theres club listings for every state, and every state seems to have random clubs off the beaten path. Call them up and see if they're hiring, or willing to accomodate traveling dancers. Tina has written some great posts on this before, I believe one was made into a bulletin even. Good luck on your search. I hope you find something that works out for you.
