    Default Working out TOO MUCH?

I work out M-F, 1hr cardio (eliptical-sp?) and some ab/butt/stretching. I dont run. I heard from a trainer at the gym you are not supposed to work out everyday, it should be every other day or you will make yourself sick??

So, does that apply to me? Im not doing much, I cant see myself only going 3 days a week...any input greatly appreciated!!

If you feel good, you're most likely fine. Not all "trainers" always know what they are talking about... it depends on the gym you go to as well. I mean, if the average human body shuts down because of 1 hour of cardio a day, I don't know how we survived the caveman era.

It depends on what your goals are. 1 hour of cardio daily is fine. But if you are doing serious weight training, you should give your muscles an occasional day to rebuild.

I did three hour marathon gym sessions four days a week for months and I never did any damage to myself....that I know of. You're probably fine. If your body isn't agreeing with the training, it'll let you know.

Don't ask anyone but your body that question. If you feel good and want to work out, keep doing what you're doing. Take 1 day off at week at least to let your fibers rebuild. When you lift weights you put tiny tears in the muscle and they rebuild a little bigger each time. I lift weights for at least 2 and a half hours for 6 days a week and I don't get sick. I feel lethargic and not too well if I don't work out. Listen to your system.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with working out 5 days a week, I think it's great you can keep yourself motivated like that. However it'd be best if you incorporate some weight training into your routine.

If you're not overly sore and your body's not telling you to stop, then keep going with the routine. Exercise every day is good for you, just make sure you eat right and get enough sleep as well.

Depends are you under a healthy weight?? 1 of our girls works out so much her Doctors told her she had to take a break and gain 10lbs becuase she was getting under 6% in total body fat only eating chicken and other high protien foods working out excessively. It was affecting her cycle, causing her to grow unwanted body hair, and really unhealthy for many other reasons due to the way it affects a woman's hormone levels to be that lean.

She gained it back eating cupcakes and training less so now she's probably in the ball park of a healthy 8% tbf.

Anyhow it's still probably better for your workout not to over doing it simply because your results platto off the more your body gets used to a routine. For example you will get better results running at your max in 15 min sprits oppossed to running that whole hour at a steady speed simply becuz you are excerting yourself more in less time verse excerting yourself less over time.

It's really not how much time you spend in the gym, but rather how much you maximize your workout that counts. That includes taking breaks and switching up your routine cuz anything in excess can become unhealthy for you in the long run.

The American Medical Association actually recommends one hour of exercise per day. Just be aware that your body may adjust to the amount you do exercise, so it's important to mix it up and integrate different types of cardio, lifting, varying intensity, and so on to make sure you don't adapt.

The only time I have heard of people being sick from exercis is in something like the police academy or boot camp. Too many push ups or situps can make you hurl or black out. But they are doing hundreds. Thousands?

I get depressed and/or horrible feeling after working out, but that's just blood sugar.
