    Default The Bush Tragedy- NYTimes

So interesting. (This would be another find from my pops)

Mr. Weisberg argues that George W. Bush’s Oedipal relationship with his father and sibling rivalry with his brother Jeb (who, for many years, was regarded as the family’s rising political star) fueled his transformation from hard-drinking black sheep in the family to dynastic heir.

I vote massive conspiracy re: the Shrub taking office.

(& I was think Gerald Ford's funeral was such a huge deal because the Bush Administration wanted a "Gloat Day" for the execution of Saddam Hussein.)

I actually met a guy who claimed to have gone to Yale at the same time as The Shrub (he said Bush was an unimpressive student.) This was at work so who knows if he was telling the truth...But it seems par for the course re: the Shrub's competency.

Sometimes I pray that GW Bush's public image was a huge diversionary tactic and there's real classfied Intel that will make the last decade make sense. I pray hard for this.....

It will be many years before the USA recovers from the damage done during the Bush presidency.

I really want to read that book. Now that the end is in sight I think I can handle that and the Draper book.

    oh yeah...

I was on a Crystal Cruise, which if you don't know, is really expensive and lots of hoity-toity people on there. And me.

But anyway, I sat for 12 days with a well-off Floridian couple. The guy was Cuban and Republican. She was American and Democrat. They said they only arguments they ever had were over politics and she will never forgive him for what he did during the 2000 election.

He was part of the recounting effort in Florida. he intentionally threw away votes for Gore. I asked him if he legitimately thought Gore had enough votes to win in Florida and he said yes, but he was punishing him for Clinton sending Elian Gonzales back to Cuba!

Sadly, Jeb Bush would have been a much better choice; he can actually formulate complete sentences with subject-verb agreement and he had no small degree of political acumen.

Funny (or sad) how events turn sometimes...
