    Default Break through bleeding

So I'm experiencing breakthrough bleeding. I've just started the pill again - I just started the second cycle... anything to be... done about this? I mean I go on the pill to control the unusual volume and general disgustingness of my menstrual cycle. I'm a breath away from shouting at my pills "this is not part of the deal! Assholes!"

Sometimes you have to deal with it for the first few months, then it goes away. Or so I've read. Are they low dose pills? If so, the breakthrough bleeding is less likely to go away. Again, so I've read.

    Well...yes and no.

I've been having breakthrough bleeding for (are you ready for this?) about 8 months. They say to wait 3 months to give your body time to adjust to the pill. If you still have breakthrough bleeding, then you may need a stronger dose of hormones.

I started yet another kind of birth control this month, because my Dr. says it's possible my uterine lining has become too thin and is shedding too often (or something like that), and it's sometimes caused by using the pill/hormonal birth control for long periods of time. It doesn't sound like that's your problem though, as you said you just started the pill.

I'd give it another month, if it doesn't go away, call your Dr. and try another pill.

If pills continue to give you issues, the Mirena IUD (low dose hormonal IUD) lightens periods. Like to the point of menstrual flow being almost (or in some cases, completely) non-existent. Though I'm not sure what your exact problems are, it would most likely help with the volume. Not what you asked, but it's another option.

eesh. I've been on these before without a problem. I'm really kind of worried about what this will do to my already sporadic sex life.
